49ers Insider Grant Cohn Seemingly Taunts Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle Over Leaked Madden 27 Ratings

Madden ratings never truly define a player’s potential or their capabilities on the gridiron. Nevertheless, Madden connoisseurs and even boomers like to bicker about the ratings, just like Sports Illustrated writer Grant Cohn, who took a dig at the San Francisco 49ers players by pointing to the Madden 27 ratings.

Football fans like to clown on the Dallas Cowboys’ three-decade-long Super Bowl drought. The 49ers themselves haven’t won a championship since 1995. At least the Niners fans can boast they have played multiple Super Bowls since then, meaning they have also won the NFC on a few different occasions.

The 2025 season looked like a dud. Injuries to key players across the roster forced the experts to rule out the Bay Area franchise from Super Bowl contention. And yet, the Niners fought back and went as far as the divisional playoff game, only losing to eventual champions, the Seattle Seahawks.

So, the Niners’ unconventional run was bound to affect their Madden score. And they have, much to the thrill of the 49ers insider and their staunch critic, Grant Cohn. After a quick glance at some of the ratings, Cohn sarcastically declared that the video game 49ers are a better team than the real Niners.

Who are the top-rated 49ers players in EA’s Madden 27?

Even though the 49ers crashed out at the divisional stage, some of their players are among the top-ranked in their respective positions. Fans can also witness the same on the Madden 27 ratings (provisional).

There are six 49ers players in Madden 27 Top 100 player ratings:

1. Tight End, George Kittle (6^th ranked): 98 overall (only 49ers player in the Top 10)
2. Middle Linebacker, Fred Warner (11^th ranked): 97 overall
3. Left Tackle, Trent Williams (15^th ranked): 97 overall
4. Running back, Christian McCaffrey (18^th ranked): 96 overall
5. Edge, Nick Bosa (29^th ranked): 95 overall)
6. Wide receiver, Mike Evans (76^th ranked): 91 Overall

49ers analyst makes a bold claim about the team’s 2026 trajectory

Former 49ers safety Donte Whitner recently predicted that he sees the Niners’ offense performing better than rivals the Los Angeles Rams, led by reigning NFL MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford.

George Kittle, Mike Evans, Christian McCaffrey, and Trent Williams. You have an All-Star team on offense. So, all it’s going to take is for them to stay healthy.

Whitner said

Cohn appears to disagree with the 49ers’ legend, which he expressed in a roundabout way. An account named “Tyler LaRocca” retweeted Fowler’s message with the caption “I wish so badly I could put money on this being wrong.” Cohn shared LaRocca’s tweet, seemingly giving him a thumbs up.

Christian McCaffrey receives good news in his personal life

McCaffrey is an All-Pro rusher on the gridiron, but off it, he’s a responsible husband to his wife Olivia Culpo and a caring father. McCaffrey and Culpo welcomed their firstborn, a daughter, in May 2025. A year later, the pair is expecting their second child. Culpo posted a video on social media to make it official.

Congrats! 49ers star RB Christian McCaffrey and his Olivia Culpo have announced they are expecting their second child together just nine months after their first.
