Jerry Jeudy has had a quirky habit of riling up unnecessary buzz on social media. The Cleveland Browns wide receiver repeated the same mistake while choosing between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson as the Browns next starting quarterback.

Recently, Jeudy had a Q&A session with his followers on Instagram Live, when an eager follower asked him to pick the next Browns starting QB. Instead of taking anyone’s name, Jeudy used his fingers to signal the number four.

For those who don’t know, Deshuan Watson has worn the number four since entering the NFL as a Houston Texan. Watson kept the number even after he was traded to the Browns.

Jeudy quickly went into defensive mode and addressed the situation in a tweet. Jeudy claimed that the video that the fans saw was carefully curated to make him look like the bad guy.

Y’all cut the clip perfectly for that narrative. Y’all can never get in between this lol.

Jeudy tweeted

However, that tweet no longer exists. Thanks to ESPN Cleveland for taking a screenshot before it was erased.

Jeudy’s next tweet is still visible on his timeline. In it, the veteran receiver clarifies that he has no say in who will be the Browns next starter.

I don’t speak on decisions that aren’t mine to make. I support my teammates/Brothers, I do my job, and control what I can control. Let’s stop creating narrative that aren’t there for likes and clicks. I bet this won’t go viral because it’s too positive/real for y’all.

The Browns traded for Jeudy in 2024. He signed a three year deal with the AFC North franchise. In his first year, Jeudy set the Browns franchise record of most receptions (90), for 1,229 yards and scored four touchdowns. Jeudy received his first Pro Bowl callup.

Last year was different. Jeudy’s output took a nosedive. He caught just 50 passes for 602 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. He also dropped 10 passes.

The Denver Broncos drafted Jeudy 15th overall in 2020. He was out of Denver after just four seasons.

NFL insider discusses potential front runner for Browns starting quarterback job

The Browns are among the handful of teams who will announce their starting quarterback after the spring training camp. Fans want to see Sanders win the job, but the inside sources point to Watson being ahead in the race.

I think it’s fair to say that Deshaun Watson had the leg up on this competition as you left minicamp. Todd Monken did not want to name a starter, and I expect this to go deep into camp.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport said

Sanders is the fresh and the exciting blood in the team, but Watson possess the experience required to win the NFL. Sure, he has missed nearly two who seasons due to multiple ACL injuries, but he is still under contract until the end of the 2026 season. If Monken sees Watson better suited for the job then he would not shy away from handing him the job regardless of the consensus.
