Even though Antonio Brown never officially announced his retirement, the mercurial wide receiver hasn’t played football since 2021. Five years later, the 38-year-old has been announced as one of the candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2027.
LeSean McCoy believes that if anyone deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, it’s Antonio Brown. On the latest episode of Speakeasy, the Super Bowl winner batted for AB.
AB should be on there, though. This might sound crazy, but Jerry Rice or AB, I’m taking AB. … Jerry Rice or Antonio Brown, I’m taking Antonio Brown. What am I saying wrong? What can Jerry Rice do that AB can’t do?
LeSean McCoy said
"[Antonio Brown] should be a first ballot HOFer…If it's AB or Jerry Rice, I'm taking AB"

The other ex-players eligible for HOF induction are TE Rob Gronkowski, RB Adrian Peterson, QB Ben Roethlisberger, OT Willie Anderson, WR Torry Holt, LB Terrell Suggs, G Marshal Yanda, CB Richard Sherman, TE Jason Witten, QB Eli Manning (third nomination), DT Kevin Williams, S Darren Woodson, WR Reggie Wayne, RB Marshawn Lynch and former NFL head coach Bill Belichick.
Football fans call out LeSean McCoy for implying that Antonio Brown was a better receiver than Jerry Rice
Before disappearing from football for good, Antonio Brown had won a Super Bowl, earned five All-Pro accolades, attended seven Pro Bowls, led the league in receptions and in receiving yards twice, and finished as the league’s top TD maker in 2018.

Jerry Rice played 300 games in his career spanning over two decades. For a wide receiver, that is an absurd achievement. Rice also owns nearly every receiving record. When he retired in 2005, Rice finished his career with three rings and a Super Bowl MVP, won the Offensive Player of the Year award twice, earned an All-Pro title 11 times, and participated in 13 Pro Bowls.
Rice is considered the best receiver ever to play in the NFL. Some even consider him the best player in league history, ahead of seven-time champion Tom Brady. And yet, LeSean McCoy believes Antonio Brown was a better receiver than Rice. Naturally, his statement did not sit well with football fans.
That look you get when you have said something incredibly stupid. pic.twitter.com/47ewvaSrHE

Let's go with ABs first 1k year til his last 1k year. Years 2-9. Same for Jerry.

Give it to AB he got 191 more yds on 162 more receptions. With those extra 162 recs, he had 41 LESS TDs. I mean, AB did get 4 TDs on PR but JR got 5 rushing TDs. AB was great, but JR is the GOAT pic.twitter.com/m1gsgnkN1V
Jerry Rice had more yards and touchdowns after the age of 30 than Antonio Brown had in his entire career.

The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Brown 195th overall in 2010. He also played for the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. AB caught 928 passes for 12,291 yards and scored 83 touchdowns in 146 appearances. During his final NFL game, Brown took off his shirt and disappeared into the tunnel.
