Legendary kicker Adam Vinatieri, who won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, cracked a snarky joke on former head coach Bill Belichick’s love life during his Pro Football Hall of Fame acceptance speech. The guests could not stop giggling.

Vinatieri was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday as part of the class of 2026. Several of his former teammates attended the event in Canton, Ohio. His former coach, Bill Belichick, wasn’t present.

Vinatieri, 53, took a playful shot at Belichick for missing the ceremony.

Thank you for demanding excellence every single day. Your preparation, discipline, and attention to detail shaped far more than my football career. Unfortunately, Bill couldn’t make it here today. There’s a lot going on at UNC right now. He may be on a recruiting trip right now looking for the next Lawrence Taylor. I thought it was because training camp already started. But in truth, it’s because he’s judging his girlfriend’s cheerleading competition.

Belichick, 74, has reportedly been dating 25-year-old former cheerleader Jordon Hudson since 2022. However, they first met on February 11, 2021, while seated next to each other on a flight from Massachusetts to Florida.

Vinatieri went undrafted in 1995 and moved to Europe to play in Amsterdam. A year later, Belichick signed Vinatieri. Vinatieri played 10 years in New England, winning three rings.

He left NE to sign with the Indianapolis Colts in 2006. In his first year, he won his fourth and final ring. Vinatieri retired in 2019. He is the league record holder with 599 field goals converted and 2673 points scored.

Belichick, meanwhile, won six rings as the Patriots coach in addition to his two previous rings as a coordinator with the New York Giants. Belichick was eligible for the Hall of Fame, but did not receive enough votes, unlike Vinatieri. Even though Vinatieri poked fun at old Bill’s love life, he promptly threw support behind his former coach.

All jokes aside, in my opinion, Bill is the greatest coach of all time.

Belichick’s son at UNC is on a medical leave from UNC duties

Belichick left the Patriots following the 2023 season. When he did not receive any job offers, he tried his hand as an analyst. However, the big shock came when he ditched the NFL for college football in late 2024, agreeing to coach the North Carolina Tar Heels football program.

After a disastrous first season, Belichick is aiming to bounce back strongly in year two. But there have been a couple of major setbacks in the last few weeks. UNC general manager Michael Lombardi was sent on administrative leave after an employee filed a complaint with human resources.

Another setback hit the UNC camp in the shape of Steve Belichick, son of Bill Belichick. Steve took the DC job ahead of the 2026 season but has been AWOL recently. Belichick said his son and UNC DC have taken a leave due to an unavoidable medical emergency.

Just want to let everyone know that my son Steve’s on medical leave, and [I look] forward to getting him back as soon as possible. It’s a medical situation so I really can’t make any further comment on that.

Bill Belichick said (H/T On3)

Belichick’s first season at Chapel Hill ended with a 4-8 record. His goal is to bounce back swiftly. But it will not be an easy task to accomplish, because they will face teams like TCU, Clemson, Miami, Louisville, and Virginia in the regular season.
