A few months ago, the whole NASCAR community went through one of the emotionally tough moments ever after the tragic passing of two times champion Kyle Busch, owing to severe pneumonia.  Everyone in the garage has been helping the Busch family to get over the loss and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Ty Gibbs is playing a key role.

The former champion’s widow Samantha Busch has revealed how the No:54 Toyota driver has become a mentor and big brother figure for her son Brexton since the death. He has been the source of comfort the teenager desperately needed and the racer being in the younger side has played an important role.

I can’t even put (any) words (to) how wonderful he’s been to Brexton. He’s been like a big brother. He’s been a source of comfort for him. I mean, Ty’s still young himself and he has come over.

Samantha Busch said about Gibbbs.

They are catching up regularly, going on lunch and driving go-karts together, being there for the youngster when he needs the most. This is the product of the two-decade long relationship the Busch’s has with Joe Gibbs Racing, and the personal tragedy Ty Gibbs go through himself after losing his father young.

He’s taken Brexton to lunch, he’s rode karts around our neighborhood with him, he came and picked him up and took him to breakfast and took him to the track to race karts. NASCAR is family. Ty knows what it’s like.

Samantha Busch added.

Further talking about the point, Samantha Busch revealed that Gibbs has been in successful in helping the youngster to remain cheerful during the tough times. She couldn’t ask for a better support system from NASCAR for Brexton at the moment. The young racer losing his father Coy Gibbs just a day after winning the second division championship inspired him to step up.

Gosh, I think for Brexton to have Ty to understand exactly what he’s going through — he came home one day from hanging out with Ty and he was like, ‘we talked about our dads.’ He just comes home so much happier.

Not just the JGR driver, but the co-owner of the team Heather Gibbs has also been a big influence for the Kyle Busch‘s family. She was there when Samantha Busch needed emotional support from someone that understands the situation and having her on the side was a blessing for them.

She went from the high of highs — Ty won his championship the next day, Coy was gone, and I felt like it was so similar. We had the kid’s birthday parties and all these great things, and then Kyle’s gone. I just remember her sitting downstairs in the basement with me and I was just crying and panicking, and she was there for me.

The love shown by the Gibbs family shows the big family dynamic NASCAR is all about and the Busch’s are blessing to have such a support system. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the coming days.
