Reporters aren’t holding back on asking Cam Ward tough questions. After the Tennessee Titans went 0-5 following Sunday’s defeat to the Houston Texans, a reporter asked Ward whether he was becoming accustomed to losing.
Prior to kickoff at Nissan Stadium, the Titans lost to the Jets, Eagles, Giants, and Ravens. Texans were also 0-5. So, the fixture carried a lot of weight.
The Texans won 26-3 and the Titans have now gone six games without a win, stretching back to last season. Ward went 23 of 36 for 170 yards and one interception (his worst tally since week one).
At the postgame presser, a reporter asked the second-year quarterback about his growing accustomed to losing. Cam Ward defended himself to answer the question.
No, I’m not a loser. The record may say that [we are that right now], but at the end of the day you have to go through some stuff to get wins. We attack this each and every day, but for that, no. If you’re able to look at everybody in our locker room’s track record, we all won games at a high level. We’re looking forward to doing that in the long run.

It’s the worst start to a season for this franchise since losing the first six games in 2009. Kerry Collins started in all six before Vince Young replaced him and went 8-2. So, Ward’s not the first Tennessee quarterback to have a poor season.
That said, Ward has a worse record than former Raiders first overall pick JaMarcus Russell, who went 7-18 in 25 starts. Ward is 3-19.
Ward started his college career in the FCS with Incarnate Word. He also played for Washington State and Miami.
In his final year with the Hurricanes, Ward completed 305 passes (67.2%) for 4313 yards, 43 total touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Miami went 10-3. Soon after, the Titans drafted him with the first overall pick in 2025.
Robert Saleh gives his honest opinion about Cam Ward and the Titans’ performance against the Texans
It was a special occasion for Titans head coach Robert Saleh. He reunited with former San Francisco 49ers colleague DeMeco Ryans, now the head coach of the Texans.

Ryans called plays on defense after a while. The defense sacked Ward 4 times and forced an interception and a fumble. Linebacker Al-Shaair, who joined the Texans from the Titans in 2023, had 11 tackles while safety Reed Blankenship had 8.

They gave up just three points, which came from a Joey Slye field goal in the first quarter. This was the Titans’ third game this season in which they have failed to score double-digit points.
We’ve got a lot of work to do. One game is not going to define us. We’re going to continue to work. We’re going to continue to find ways to get better. This organization and team will have its day in the sun.
Robert Saleh said
Tennessee managed only one sack on Texans quarterback CJ Stroud. He scrambled to the sidelines a few times. The Titans played without safety Amani Hooker, still in concussion protocol.
The injury list grew on Sunday after Safety Kevin Winston Jr. hurt his quadriceps and cornerback Cor’Dale Flott took a knock in his chest.
The Titans play the Indianapolis Colts next week. The Colts lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the earlier kickoff. The Colts lead the series 41-22.
The Titans haven’t defeated the Colts since October 2022. In October last year, Ward threw 22 completions for 259 yards, 1 touchdown, and one interception in this fixture. Nevertheless, the Colts won 38-14 in that game.
