Matthew Stafford reached another personal milestone. On Monday night, the 38-year-old signal caller became the first quarterback to throw 150 touchdowns for two NFL franchises.
Prior to kickoff at SoFi Stadium against the Buffalo Bills, Stafford sat on 147 passing touchdowns as the Los Angeles Rams quarterback. Three touchdowns against the Bills helped him reach 150 TDs.
According to Yahoo Sports, Matthew Stafford is the first quarterback to throw 150 touchdowns for two different NFL franchises.
The Rams traded for Stafford from the Detroit Lions in 2021. They sent QB Jared Goff, a 2021 third-round pick, and two first-round picks in 2022 and 2023 to Detroit.
Stafford, a former first overall draft pick, made 165 regular-season appearances for the Lions before the trade. He had a passer rating of 89.9 with 45,109 yards, 282 touchdowns, and 144 interceptions. He earned one Pro Bowl selection and a Comeback Player of the Year award.
Since moving to LA, Stafford has maintained a passer rating of 97.7 with 20,979 yards, 150 touchdowns, and 58 interceptions in 79 games. Stafford won a Super Bowl with the Rams in his debut campaign. Last season, he threw 4707 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions to earn his first All-Pro selection and the league MVP trophy. He has also earned two Pro Bowls in five years.

Seven time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady played for the Patriots and the Buccaneers. He combined to thrown for 649 regular season touchdowns. However, he threw 541 touchdowns as a Patriot and 108 as a Buccaneer.
Matthew Stafford owns an unwanted NFL record
Stafford has thrown over 450 career touchdowns (including playoffs). But he has also conceded a ton of interceptions. In nearly 260 appearances, Stafford has thrown 209 interceptions.

Interceptions are a big part of a quarterback’s game. But Stafford owns a record that no QB would want to emulate. Per Pro-Football-Reference and the NFL Researcher, Stafford has thrown the most Pick-6s since football heads began keeping records in 1940.
Stafford was level with Hall of Famer Brett Favre with 32 Pick-6s. He became the sole record holder after Denver Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga intercepted his pass and returned it for a pick-6 in Week 3.

Hufanga picked him off a second time in the final moments to secure a crucial victory for the Broncos.
Stafford also owns the record of throwing a touchdown and a pick-6 in the same game (26). He has done that three more times than Favre.

The Rams succumbed to a third defeat of the year after the Bills won in overtime
Stafford played his part brilliantly. He threw two touchdown passes to Davante Adams and one to Puka Nacua. Both running backs Kyren Williams and Blake Corum scored rushing touchdowns.
Despite the offensive prowess, the Rams and the Bills tied 34-34 after four quarters thanks to swashbuckling plays from Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
In overtime, the Bills’ special teams blocked a field goal attempt from Harrison Mevis. In the next drive, Bills kicker Tyler Bass completed a 45-yard field goal. The Bills won 37-34.
“You know, you’re gonna have to fight tooth and nail to get a win, and give ourselves some opportunities… Disappointing obviously, but a short week… Gotta move on and be ready to rock and roll,” Matthew Stafford said at the post-game presser via Nick Hamilton of Rams media.

After five games, Stafford has thrown 139 completions (64.4%) for 1572 yards, 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
The Rams fall to 2-3 with the defeat. They are third in the NFC West behind the 3-2 Seattle Seahawks and the undefeated San Francisco 49ers (5-0).
The Rams stay in LA for next week’s rivalry game against the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona is at the bottom of the division with just one win in five.
