LeBron James and Anthony Edwards may be at very different stages in their careers as the new season begins. The former will enter his 24th season in the NBA and is already regarded as one of the greatest of all time, while the latter is in his prime and is touted as the best player in the world in the near future.
The two may have a significant age gap, but they share a strong relationship. In fact, they were teammates on Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics and led their country to a gold medal.
James signed with Nike before entering the NBA Draft in 2003. Adidas tried to lure him as well, but the King chose Nike. However, Edwards is the face of Adidas Basketball and signed with them in 2020.
The two brands have often used their stars to take shots at each other in their commercials. After James left the Los Angeles Lakers, he was linked to several teams over the summer. One of them was the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Edwards even made a pitch to recruit James, and the idea of both of them playing together as teammates brought in a lot of excitement. Unfortunately for the Wolves, the King decided to join the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year deal.
However, Adidas took the opportunity to cast Edwards in a commercial and got him to roast the 41-year-old.
I did not watch the spot because I don’t watch anything from the Stripes. Nothing. Love Ant to death, but I don’t watch s–t from the Stripes. I just don’t. So, I don’t even know what he actually said.

It was not the first time Anthony Edwards and Adidas trolled Nike players. The Wolves guard shot a commercial earlier this year and took shots at Victor Wembanyama, Luka Doncic, and his other rivals in the NBA.
However, James was left unfazed by the roasting as he does not pay attention to anything related to Adidas. He was also left unimpressed because Edwards was just reading off a teleprompter. In the end, he showed love for the young star regardless of what he said while calling out Adidas for making him do this commercial.
LeBron James didn’t mind Anthony Edwards taking shots at him
Since entering the NBA in 2003, James has been at the center of attention. He is the face of the league for nearly two decades and continues to be the biggest draw.

While he may be the most loved player, he is also the most scrutinized player in the league. So it is not surprising to see Adidas make the most of it.
When Steve Nash said that if anyone in today’s game can take shots at James, it is Edwards. James said,
Bring them at me. Bring them at me. I’m used to it.

James’ reaction was lighthearted throughout the conversation. He was ready for more and joked that Edwards could keep the jokes coming because he was used to receiving them.
Jaylen Brown fired back at Anthony Edwards for mocking him and LeBron James
Along with LeBron James, Jaylen Brown was another star traded to the 76ers from the Boston Celtics in a blockbuster trade in the offseason. While the Adidas commercial focused on James, Edwards also took a shot at Brown.
However, unlike James, Brown reacted differently to the roasts in the commercial.
AE, I thought you was my boy. We ain’t doing that. Adidas wrote this for you, my boy? They trying to drive a wedge between us. We’re from the crib, from the A. You’re supposed to leave me out of that. They need to get my boy some condoms. Adidas. They got to get AE, since we got jokes, some Adidas-sponsored condominiums. That’s what we’re going to do.

Brown did not hold back and took shots at Edwards in the commercial. The cheeky jab from Brown may have been a response to reports that Edwards has had children with multiple women over the past year. The four-time All-Star has been caught up in multiple child support cases during the summer.
It will be interesting to see how James and Brown deal with Edwards when they face off against each other on January 16. The two sides will meet once again on March 14.
