Sean McVay’s Rams’ Problems Get Worse After Starting OT Gets 2-Game Suspension for Punching Josh Allen’s Teammate

This was supposed to be the season when Sean McVay and his reinforced Los Angeles Rams would win almost every game, if not stay unbeaten, and win their second Super Bowl. But after Josh Allen and his Bills won, doubts are creeping in.
For starters, the overtime loss to the Bills dropped the Los Angeles-based team down to a 2-3 record. That will not work in the hotly contested NFC. A few teams below the Rams in the standings hope to make a run once they get a handle on their situations.
Division rivals San Francisco 49ers and Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are not making it easy. Therefore, the team really needs to win games such as the one they could have, had it not been for a blocked field goal.
But the problems facing the franchise run deeper than just one missed scoring opportunity. In fact, a team as talented and with one of the best coaches in the league running it should not be leaving their fate that late.
Two of their losses and one of their wins are in single digits. That speaks volumes about the team’s inability to impose themselves when needed. Now, their situation is about to take a turn for the worse.
Starting offensive tackle Alaric Jackson punched Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb after the game. Now, after reviewing the incident, the league has punished the Rams star with a two-game suspension.
Two-game suspension is now official.

If things were already not bad enough with the defense not playing to their standards, now the offense loses a key piece of the puzzle. Hopefully, Matthew Stafford can get away with it, as he will not be facing some of the league’s best defenses in the next two weeks.
Rams release kicker after blocked field goal
The Los Angeles Rams are not just struggling with their offense and defense. Special teams have not performed to their best, which was highlighted by the blocked field goal that ensured they would lose their third game of the season.

Bills linebacker Greg Rousseau is known to be tall and has a massive wingspan. Despite that, Rams blockers left him untouched, allowing the 26-year-old to get a hand on Harrison Mevis‘ kick.
That was enough to slow the ball’s speed and alter its trajectory enough that it landed a few yards short of the uprights. A Super Bowl-contending franchise cannot have such mishaps.
It seems they took charge of the situation and released Mevis. But it was not just down to that blocked kick. Rather, his miss earlier in the game was attributed to the season-long issues.
https://www.therams.com/schedule/Now, they turn to Blake Grupe, whom they signed off the New York Jets’ practice squad. Going from a 245 lb kicker to one who weighs just 156 lb might raise eyebrows. But the Rams do not have many options either. Hopefully for them, Grupe gets into rhythm over the next few ‘easier’ games.
Rams defense raising questions
Apart from the problems surrounding the special teams unit, the most glaring issue has been with the Los Angeles Rams’ defense. Leaving the injured Myles Garrett out of the equation, the defense was still supposed to be one of the best in the league.
Instead, they have given up way too many points against fellow playoff contenders. That led Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe to say this about the secondary on Nightcap.
I got $100 million worth of corners. You mean to tell me I can’t put McDuffie, I can’t put Watson, on those guys?… They can’t cover Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir. I need somebody to explain that to me if I was a kid.
Shannon Sharpe said
The three-time Super Bowl winner questioned why they cannot adjust their schemes or play to their potential, especially against receivers who are not considered world beaters on any given Sunday.
Shannon Sharpe says why are the LA Rams paying Trent McDuffie $33 million and Jaylen Watson $20 million if they can’t cover Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir https://t.co/eCTSRnOLZa

Sharpe was not alone, as these questions have been thrown around on almost every other platform this season. If anything, Sean McVay needs to instill a sense of urgency if this bleeding has to stop.
