LeBron James set foot in the NBA as the number one overall pick in 2003. Since then, he has been treated to all kinds of environments. Over the last 23 years, he has become familiar with every team and crowd in the league.

The Philadelphia 76ers fanbase is known for being quite rowdy, mainly because of their passion for the team. They can be one of the loudest crowds in the NBA and also make their feelings known by booing their own players.

After an impressive season-opening win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday, the 76ers made their season debut at the Xfinity Mobile Arena against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night. The home side had a two-half game as they found themselves down by as many as 24 points at halftime.

The vibes have been very high since James joined the 76ers in the summer. Following his arrival, there has been a huge surge in ticket prices in Philly. But that did not stop them from packing the arena on Thursday as the King made his home debut.

In the end, the 76ers pulled off a monumental comeback and clinched a dramatic 114-106 win over the Cavs. However, Philly fans weren’t happy with what they saw and booed their own team in the first half.

After the game, James appreciated how honest the atmosphere was at home.

It was everything that I dreamed of and more. We got the boos. That was amazing. We deserved it. And then we got the cheers, and almost blew the roof off this thing tonight in a good way. It was a hell of a night.

It was a comeback for the ages as the 76ers registered their greatest comeback in franchise history in the play-by-play era. LeBron James has seen and been through everything in the NBA for over two decades. It seems he and his teammates fed off the fans’ energy, which helped them mount a turnaround.

LeBron James ranks Philly as one of the best sports cities in the world

LeBron James’ move to the 76ers saw mixed reactions across the NBA world. While some praised him for prioritizing championships at this stage of his career, some were critical of the move as he did not share any previous affiliation with the city or the franchise.

Despite all the noise, the 41-year-old has made it clear that he left his family behind to win championships. With his wife and daughter still living in LA, it was a brave decision for him to leave them behind to join the 76ers.

However, his mother, wife, and daughter were all in attendance for his 76ers home debut, and he called the city of Philly one of the best sports cities in the world.

They put her (Zhuri James) name and told her happy birthday on the Jumbotron. That was super cool. Mom was here as well, so super special for me to be able to have moments like this in this building, in this city, probably one of the best sports cities in the world. Along with a couple other cities, but Philly is damn sure right up at the top.

It seems like LeBron James is enjoying his time in the organization and is well aware of the expectations from the fanbase. The boos were understandable after their poor first-half showing. But the team turned it into some of the loudest cheers in the second half.

Unfortunately, things looked like they were falling apart in the first quarter when they found themselves down by 17 points. It got worse as the Cavs extended their lead to 29 points before heading into halftime at 69-45.

While most fans would leave after such a disastrous first half, the home fans stayed for the second. VJ Edgecombe appreciated the fans for staying back and credited them with uplifting the team’s morale.

I’m gonna be honest that’s the loudest I’ve heard Xfinity since I’ve been here. Shoutout to them for not leaving after halftime. … I love how the fans supported us. They helped us win.
