Tiger Woods could be on the prowl at 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome

Tiger Woods
Golfing great Tiger Woods will be a part of the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome in some capacity, US captain Zach Johnson has confirmed.
After battling back from a car accident in February 2021 where he suffered a serious leg injury, Woods had a limited schedule for most of 2022. The multiple-time major champion was reported to be involved in team selection and strategy when the US team beat the Internationals once again in the President’s Cup last month.
“Given who he is and what he’s all about, I can’t tell you right now: I don’t know if he will be here next year, but he will be a part of this team in some capacity,” Johnson said.

The rise, fall and resurrection of Tiger Woods

Woods has made golf his own backyard throughout his career. The legendary golfer is a household name all over the world when it comes to golf. Tiger got into golf as early as a 10-month old when his father – who subsequently was his first teacher noticed Tiger’s sense of the game.
Woods became a pro not until 1996, winning various accolades, including 6 USGA national championships while announcing himself on the world stage. He went on to be No. 1 in golf at just 21 years of age, setting a record that’ll puzzle future generations for sure.
Woods was a man with the ‘Midas Touch’. Whatever and wherever he went, success followed him like his shadow. He won whatever was there to win. He had written his names for the history books in gold. But as we say – ‘All good things come to an end’. In the 2000s, the golfing great was accused of having multiple extramarital affairs at the same time which ultimately also led to his divorce.
After this incident, it all went downhill for Woods. The media uncovered truths about his cheating and labeled him as a ‘serial philanderer’. He subsequently had to separate ways with his wife Elin in an ugly divorce in front of the whole world. Tiger as expected took a sabbatical from his professional life thus placing golf at the back seat.
In 2010, Tiger apologized on national television to his fans and the world for his “irresponsible and selfish behavior”. He enrolled in rehab to flush out his demons and get back his identity as a respected person. What a fall from grace Tiger Woods experienced. As they say – ‘everyone has flaws.’ Recently, Woods also got involved in a car crash near his home and drove through his neighbor’s tree.
A decade later and with continuous breaks in his golfing career, Tiger was at his best when he won his 15th major at Augusta. It was his grand return to center stage. Tiger’s victorious run after a life-defining 11 years was witnessed by his two children. He termed it a “full circle”. “My dad was here in 1997 and now I’m the dad with two kids here,” – Woods stated at the time.
Currently, Woods is continuing his recovery from injury as he looks to return next year at the Masters and dazzle everyone with his talent and poise. As many he had shown on the golf course that he can return and be victorious from any position that you put him. Woods certainly has used that experience in his personal life too to overcome his setbacks.
