“What are we doing?”: George Kittle LASHES OUT at the NFL over despicable field conditions

George Kittle is not happy with the NFL's lack of uniformity when it comes to playing surfaces.
The NFL has been criticized for a long time when it comes to the kind of playing surface that teams can use in their stadiums. However, the league has been accustomed to turning a blind eye to the woes of the athletes on this topic. In recent times, the call for the NFL to issue a mandate making it the norm to switch to all-natural grass surfaces has grown stronger.
Odell Beckham Jr., the wideout for the Rams who suffered a brutal knee injury in the Super Bowl, cited the artificial surface as one of the biggest reasons for his injury. In addition to OBJ, there has been an outpouring of responses from other players who have also requested the NFL to do away with artificial turf surfaces.
The newest player to join the likes of Cooper Kupp, Travis Kelce, Nick Bosa, Gabe Davis, and David Bakhtiari in having a stance against the NFL is George Kittle, the TE for the San Francisco 49ers. He voiced his opinion against the artificial turf surfaces and called for standardizing the playing surfaces in the league.

George Kittle is not the only NFL star who has criticized the sub-par turfs in some stadiums:

Here is what George Kittle had to say via Uninterrupted, “NBA guys don’t play on different wood, what are we doing? Hockey guys don’t play on different ices all the time. So I just wish we played on a surface that was similar every single week in, week out so your body won’t just be dealing with different, crappy turf.”
The topic has become a hot one now and the #saferfields have become one of the most trending ones in the NFL circle. The NFL has not yet released any comments on this issue raised by the athletes. However, given the seriousness and scale of this issue, it will be safe to assume that this topic will be on the agenda at the next NFLPA meeting.
Kittle does have a point. In every other sport, there is an element of standardization. The body does not need to keep adapting to different playing conditions on a weekly basis. However, in the NFL, while some stadiums prefer to maintain a natural turf, which is ideal for football, the relatively modern ones prefer artificial turfs due to the ease of maintaining them.
