With Myles Garrett now a member of the Los Angeles Rams, they have become overnight Super Bowl favorites. At this juncture, one might wonder whether these moves are enough to tempt Aaron Donald to return.
The reigning Defensive Player of the Year has lapped up almost everything he can in terms of individual accomplishments. His sole interest is now to win the biggest game of any NFL season, so that he can have the hardware to show alongside his highly decorated girlfriend.
It is not as if the two are competing, as Garrett has proven time and again that he loves to support the more accomplished member of his now-extended family.
If he can have that mindset for the greater good, then the single-season sack record holder might not have a problem if arguably one of the greatest defensive linemen came out of retirement to share the stage with him.
I reached out to Aaron Donald, and according to the source, ‘It for sure got me thinking.’
Pat McAfee revealed
The former punter added that Donald did say that he is two years removed from the game and is at the age of 35. But then, McAfee talks about the workout video the Super Bowl LVI champion posted on social media.

According to source(s) it for sure got him thinking..
He said he's 35 and he's gotta see if that fire can light backup..

When talking about it with Aaron Donald, the latter left him with a message that managed to leave the entire conversation in limbo. Naturally, unless he makes a decision, McAfee cannot openly confirm it. But it seems he has opened up to the possibility of a return.
Aaron Donald reaffirms he is flirting with the idea since the Super Bowl is in Los Angeles
Donald has posted several videos since his retirement about how fit and conditioned he is. But to return to the NFL and take on all those beatings is another thing.

I’m for sure flirting with the idea. Helluva an opportunity with the Super Bowl in SoFi this year. If I can find the fire, it’s a possibility.
Jordan Schultz quoting Aaron Donald
This was a second text exchange reaffirming that the three-time Defensive Player of the Year is thinking about returning. The Super Bowl at his home stadium, and arguably one of the strongest teams in the league, is good enough motivation for him to think about coming out of his retirement.
I texted Aaron Donald about coming out of retirement and playing for the Rams, alongside Myles Garrett:

Pairing alongside Myles Garrett will help alleviate a lot of the double-team pressure Donald was used to during his prime. Those adjustments could be enough to consider him for a return.
If he does, the Rams could, barring injury, be the deepest team in the league and surefire contenders to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy next February.
Sean McVay smiles when asked about Aaron Donald’s return rumors
Since these exchanges happened a short while before Garrett’s introductory press conference, a reporter at the session asked Rams HC Sean McVay about the possibility of Aaron Donald’s return.
Listen, if he’s interested… here’s what I’ll say. You talk to Aaron, and you see what he’s saying about that… Aaron’s a guy that I stay really close in touch with, and I know the respect that he has for Myles… If Aaron decides he wants to dust them off at the age of 35, I bet you he could still do it at a pretty high clip.
Sean McVay replied
Again, a smile broke out on the head coach’s face as he understood what could be if the Rams’ great returns to play alongside their newly acquired defensive cornerstone.

If McVay is in constant touch with his former defensive ace, there is a chance he knows better than those in the media what the 10-time Pro Bowler wants to do. If he returns, all bets are off.
