Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has never been shy about sharing his views, whether it’s about his love life or politics. Appearing on Steelers teammate Cam Heyward’s Not Just Football podcast, an unfiltered Rodgers criticized the current US government and those before it.
Without mincing his words, Rodgers targeted President Donald Trump and his Make America Great Again campaign. The 42-year-old claimed, “There’s no MAGA movement” because it hasn’t improved citizens’ lives.
There’s no Make America Great Again [MAGA] movement. Because the guy you elected hasn’t done any of his campaign promises, and eventually you realize nothing’s actually going to change.
Aaron Rodgers said
Rodgers pivoted to former President Barack Obama. When the people voted Obama into the Oval Office, many thought the Black community would finally see real development.
Is anybody better off? Did the Affordable Care Act make a major difference besides being an extra tax? Is health care that much better in this country? Then Trump comes in, says he’s going to drain the swamp and do something, and nothing happens; nothing changes.
Rodgers said
The Steelers QB did not even spare Joe Biden. He mercilessly called Biden an “old bag of bones.” Rodgers ended his monologue by branding politics a “total sham.”
Aaron Rodgers, holding nothing back, explains why he doesn’t trust anyone in government — right or left — and believes it’s all a sham.

Rodgers came close to joining active politics in 2024. His good friend John F. Kennedy Jr. reportedly wanted the four-time NFL MVP to run for Vice President. However, Rodgers passed on the opportunity.
Rodgers chose his career. It was his second year with the New York Jets. The Jets finished 5-12. Rodgers hit free agency in the 2025 offseason. Despite drawing interest from a few teams, Rodgers contemplated retirement until Mike Tomlin and the Steelers approached him with an offer.
Rodgers signed a one-year deal with the AFC North franchise. The Steelers went 10-6 with Rodgers as their starter. Rodgers finished with 327 completions for 3322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. In the wildcard, the Steelers faced the Houston Texans. The Texans’ pass rush sacked Rodgers 4 times and forced two turnovers, including a pick-6.
Once again, Rodgers had to choose between prolonging his career and retiring from the game. New Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy convinced him to come back for one last ride. McCarthy had a helping hand from Rodgers’ wife, Brittani, with whom he plans to start a family. Rodgers signed a one-year deal worth up to $25 million.
Aaron Rodgers and Steelers receive positive news ahead of Week one fixture against the Atlanta Falcons
Like the Steelers, their week one opponents, the Atlanta Falcons, had an eventful offseason. Kevin Stefanski replaced Raheem Morris as head coach. Kirk Cousins left to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Stefanski signed former Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa after he hit free agency. The Falcons further signed former Dallas and Baltimore quarterback Cooper Rush and UDFA rookie Jack Strand.
Stefanski signed Tua to challenge former first-round draft pick Michael Penix Jr. The former Washington man beat Cousins to claim the Falcons starting job. However, tore his ACL in week 11. He has yet to make a full recovery. For that reason, Stefanski announced Tagovailoa as the Falcons’ starter against the Steelers in the season’s opening fixture.
However, ESPN’s Falcons reporter Marc Raimondi reported that Tua suffered a back injury at practice.
During the open media portion of practice, Falcons QB Tua Tagovailoa touched his back and sat down on the grass briefly during individual drills Thursday. It was unclear exactly what had happened. He didn’t seem to throw again after, but media only gets to watch a small portion of practice.

The Falcons confirmed that Tagovailoa will not play against the Steelers. Cooper Rush will take Tua’s place in the starting lineup. With that development, the Steelers are currently 3.5-point favorites to start their season with a win.
