Errol Spence Jr vs. Terence Crawford remains another important boxing match of 2022. The welterweight title unification has considerable interest among boxing fans. It has a similar feel to the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia bout. However, the welterweight title fight could have more implications than Davis vs. Garcia. The fight will happen in Las Vegas at the end of July.
Davis and Garcia were young and undefeated fighters. A loss to either of them will not hamper their career progression. However, Spence Jr and Crawford are not young fighters. They are in their thirties, and a loss can potentially hurt their legacy. There is a rematch clause on the contract. However, in boxing bouts, the winner of the first bout has a huge advantage heading into a rematch.
The story about the Spence Jr vs. Crawford got overshadowed this week when a boxing fan started a GoFundMe page to secure the money needed to watch the undisputed title fight in Las Vegas. Twitter has gone crazy knowing about the length in which boxing fans will go to watch their favorite fighters compete. A fan posted about his GoFundMe page on Twitter and asked his followers to like and retweet the post. Other fans have come forward to mock the fan for using a platform for his personal benefit.
Spence Jr vs. Crawford will certainly sell more PPVs than the recent Devin Haney vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko bout. Spence Jr is a knockout artist, with 22 of his 28 bouts ending with a finish. The same can be said about Crawford. Crawford has fought more times and has 30 knockout victories from 39 fights. One of these undefeated fighters will lose their perfect record when they fight in July.
