Tyson Fury is one of the most prominent active heavyweights currently in boxing and is the reigning WBC champion. However, eight years ago, Fury was an underdog when he fought against the heavyweight legend Wladimir Klitschko. Furthermore, Fury and Klitschko faced each other in a highly anticipated heavyweight boxing match on November 28, 2015, in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Recently, a video of Fury has resurfaced, which shows him dancing and rapping carefree before his big fight. At the time, Klitschko held multiple heavyweight titles and had been the dominant force in the division for many years. Fury entered the bout as the underdog, but he managed to pull off a significant upset by defeating Klitschko via unanimous decision.
In addition, the video of him rapping alongside his brother in the hotel room reflects his confidence before the fight. Tyson Fury‘s victory ended Klitschko’s long reign as the heavyweight champion and marked a turning point in the division.
Furthermore, the judges’ scorecards for the fight were 115-112, 115-112, and 116-111 in favor of Fury. The fight was characterized by Fury’s elusive and unorthodox style, which made it challenging for Klitschko to land clean punches. Fury’s win not only earned him the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring magazine heavyweight titles but also ended Klitschko’s 11-year unbeaten streak.
The rematch between Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko was scheduled for July 9, 2016, but it was postponed multiple times due to Fury facing mental health issues and other personal challenges. As a result, Fury vacated his titles, and Klitschko eventually retired from boxing.
John Fury says that Tyson Fury may not be ready to fight Oleksandr Usyk
Tyson Fury’s dad, John Fury, has unexpectedly admitted that Tyson is not ready for the challenge of fighting Oleksandr Usyk. The two fighters are set to fight in February of next year, for the undisputed heavyweight title.
Furthermore, the bout has historical significance because there hasn’t been an undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999. In a recent interview with Metro Sport, John stated that his son’s current style is not good enough. Furthermore, John stated that Tyson wouldn’t have defeated Klitschko with it, and Usyk would also prove to be a challenge.
Usyk is coming into the fight in great form, having won his last fight by KO to stay undefeated at 21-0. Subsequently, Tyson has also remained undefeated with 35 wins and 1 draw, but recently controversially won over Francis Ngannou.
