Eddie Hearn recently missed out on hosting the purse bids for the Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte fight but that doesn’t mean he’s losing out as he’s currently co-promoting Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano with his newest partner Jake Paul.

The boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn recently sat for an interview with MMA Hour‘s host Ariel Helwani which is organized by MMA Fighting to talk about the upcoming women’s lightweight fight, Jake Paul, Dana White, and also about his client Anthony Joshua.

But what caught many fans’ attention is his words on the current undisputed king of the super middleweight division Canelo Alvarez.

When asked about his standing with the Mexican Hearn replied, “For me, it’s a dream working with him because I mean I hate to sound like a fanboy but he is the coolest guy I’ve ever met. I mean he genuinely – like the belief Ariel of this man. You talked to him about a fight you know, I might have said to him when we did the Callum Smith fight or Billy Joe Saunders like ‘You know, Callum’s a big – big 168. You know Billy Joe Saunders he can move well’.

You know it’s just like the mindset of a fighter is, when you’re around someone like Canelo Alvarez, you start to realize the importance of confidence and mindset of a fighter. He thinks he’s completely unbeatable. He probably thinks he can beat Anthony Joshua, that’s his mentality.”

Hearn went on to say Canelo may just arguably be the best fighter he’s ever seen up close and said that he would be “over the moon” if he could get Canelo to sign with him for the long term.

Eddie Hearn spoke to DAZN Boxing Show about wanting Canelo to fight at the 175-pound division rather than go after Ilunga Makabu for the WBC cruiserweight title.

He was asked as to what he thinks the Canelo camp is deciding for the champion to which he said, “I think it depends on what Canelo wants to do, in terms of the division he wants to fight in. I’d like to see him fight Dimtry Bivol, then Joe Smith, then Beterbiev and clean up at 175. I think with Canelo, anything is possible. I think him and Eddy Reynoso will talk and come up with a plan and look at the options, and it’ll come down to what excites him.”

This is a unique setup with Eddy and Saul, and they’ll go through all the options. It comes down to feeling, legacy, and drive. I don’t think they’re interested in just taking a fight that doesn’t really do anything for him.”

With the cat not let out of the bag yet, it’s unsure who Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will look to face next as there are a number of possibilities so we wait until the champion decides his next target.
