Current Alpine driver Fernando Alonso has just signed a multi-year deal with Aston Martin amidst news of Sebastian Vettel‘s exit from Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season. The Spaniard will be replacing the four-time World Champion at the British team to partner Lance Stroll.

There have been several talks going on all around the Formula 1 community regarding who would be replacing Vettel at Aston Martin, and it seems that Lawrence Stroll is shifting from one former World Champion to another! Two-time F1 title-holder Fernando Alonso has been showing a consistent brilliant form at all the recent Grands Prix with his French team but now it seems that the seasoned racer is ready to move on to newer heights in his career.

The news about Fernando Alonso’s appointment as an Aston Martin driver for the next few seasons of Formula 1 was revealed on the team’s official website. With this, several speculations put forward by the crazed fans regarding who would replace Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin have thus come to an end. Following the German’s retirement, the team has decided to appoint yet another former World Champion, which clearly denotes that Aston Martin favors experience in their recruits.

Speaking of Fernando Alonso’s choice to go into Aston Martin, the Spaniard explained that he is eyeing yet another Championship victory, and he believes Aston Martin can help him achieve it. As quoted by the Aston Martin official site, Fernando Alonso said, “This Aston Martin team is clearly applying the energy and commitment to win, and it is therefore one of the most exciting teams in Formula One today.”

To further explain why he decided to move to the British team, Fernando Alonso said, “I have known Lawrence and Lance for many years and it is very obvious that they have the ambition and passion to succeed in Formula One.”
