Every game Caitlin Clark plays, she channels her on-court swagger to be the best version of herself. Sometimes, that can go overboard and get in the bad books of game officials.

Many fans have criticized her outbursts, labeling them as an unwanted side to her game. Some have even suggested that she is starting to become unlikable in the league due to her antics.

Some discussions were about whether it was alright for players to be aggressive towards officials every now and then. Trash talking other players was not considered a problem, but incessant complaining about fouls was getting on some nerves.

During this time, Clark made it clear that she was not going to change no matter what. She pointed out that her swagger and trash talk were what complete her competitive drive.

However, the downside is that officials tend to slap a technical foul if they believe a situation may start to get too far. That was the build-up today when the Fever superstar had a clash of words with Connecticut Sun star Saniya Rivers.

The point guard’s teammates were already in between, trying to separate them as they continued to jaw. But an official was also in the middle of it and instantly blew the whistle.

He slapped both Saniya Rivers and Caitlin Clark with a technical foul each. That means the latter is now one game away from being suspended. She has already called out allegedly undeserved techs before. But this time, she did not complain.

Caitlin Clark reveals what she and Saniya Rivers said

Lip readers were hard at work trying to figure out what Caitlin Clark said to Saniya Rivers. They could figure out that the Indiana Fever superstar pointed at the box score and probably said ‘scoreboard,’ but she detailed the exchange when journalist James Boyd asked her about it.

She said she was locking me up, so I said, ‘Scoreboard,’ and the ref didn’t like that.

Caitlin Clark revealed

After revealing this, Boyd reminded her that she was one game away from a suspension. To this, the Iowa native reiterated that she was not going to back down from anyone, no matter what.

Clark also added that she is aware that players are supposed to take care of their emotions, but stressed that thinking about it too much in the game could hinder her performance on the court.

After these answers, Boyd asked if it was inevitable that she would face the suspension sometime soon. Clark replied that she does not know what will come, which could be her way to say that she is ready for a suspension whenever it comes.

Caitlin Clark notches another record and helps the Fever set two

The reason Caitlin Clark used the scoreboard taunt is that at the time of this incident, the Indiana Fever were up by 28 points. If Saniya Rivers was indeed suggesting that she was defending well against the dynamic guard, the Hawkeyes’ great simply reminded her that the score said otherwise.

The Fever ended up winning the game by a score of 123-88. That became the franchise’s highest-ever score in a game. To reach that number, Clark dominated in the first half, scoring 21 of her 27 points.

That burst, along with contributions from her teammates, saw the franchise notch another record, this time with the highest score in a half. But the 24-year-old also managed to etch her name into one for herself.

By the end of the game, she registered 11 assists, which helped her finish with a +/- of +26. That made her the only player ever to record 25+ points, 10+ assists, and a +25 +/- in a single game. It now seems that whenever she has a good game, one or the other record tumbles.
