Chase Brown made a few enemies among the Carolina Panthers fan base on Sunday. The second-year Cincinnati Bengals running back did have a career outing, which kind of ticked them off.
There’s no shortage of unruly fans taking the fun out of football with their bad behavior. Almost every game day there will be at least one or two incidents of two sets of fans fighting among each other.
More often than not, players also face the wrath of their fanbase—Daniel Jones should know. However, unlike the New York Giants quarterback who regularly faces flak from his own fans, Chase Brown experienced the other side of the coin.
The 2023 fifth-round pick went off against the Panthers by rushing 20 times for 80 yards and scoring 2 touchdowns (the first time in his fledging NFL career). The Panthers fans finally had something to cheer about in the previous home game, but Brown’s performance brought them back down to earth.

When Chase Brown was heading back to the locker room after the Bengals’ 34-24 win, a fan dropped water on top of the 24-year-old’s head. It did little to anger Brown, as he just walked away without retaliating.
Chase Brown spoke about the significance of the Bengals win over the Panthers
The Bengals started roughly this year by losing their first three games of the season (for the first time since 2020). It raised questions about Joe Burrow’s ability to win games. Despite the backlash, Burrow looked much improved in the Bengals’ week 3 loss to the Commanders, but the Washington franchise outscored them.
It was a different scenario in Carolina, as the Bengals scored first and stayed in the driver’s seat from the first quarter. Chase Brown played ample snaps, carrying the ball for crucial third downs.
"I'm just doing my job. I'm a running back, I want the ball. Hand it off to me, throw it to me, I'm confident in my ability."

Brown was asked to describe his performance against the Panthers. In reply, he highlighted that it’s his job to gain the yards.
The Illinois Illini graduate played second fiddle to veteran Joe Mixon last year. This year head coach Zac Taylor has increased Brown’s responsibility from just being an extra running back to a punt and kick returner as well even after signing Zack Moss from the Colts.
Moss also had a good game as he carried the ball 15 times last night for 51 yards. In total, the Bengals gained 141 yards on the ground. They will have to keep this momentum going because their next game is against the Baltimore Ravens, who dismantled the Buffalo Bills in Sunday’s late-night kickoff.
