Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh hailed Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler as the best batter in the world right now. Buttler has been a consistent performer in white-ball cricket for his national side as well as for his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise.

In the 2023 season, the Englishman slammed three half-centuries in the four matches he has played so far, collecting 204 runs at a brilliant strike rate of 170 and an average of 51. His highest was a 79-run score which he scored against Delhi Capitals.

Harbhajan Singh is quite impressed by Buttler’s technique of playing. “I fell short of words to praise Jos Buttler. He is a proper batter of the cricket ball. He uses the crease to perfection, possesses good technique, and he has good footwork against pace and spin. For me, he’s the No.1 batter in the world cricket at the moment,” Singh said on Star Sports.

Recently, Jos Buttler completed 3000 runs in IPL from 86 matches, which made him the third fastest to do so. The English wicket-keeper batter reached the milestone during Pink Jersey’s match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The 32-year-old batter’s blazing knocks in the 15th edition of the IPL, helped the franchise reach the final of the cricketing extravaganza for the first time since their lifting the trophy in 2008. That year, he amassed 863 runs from 17 matches, at an average of 57, and a strike rate of 149.05. He also slammed four centuries and an equal number of half-centuries.

His 863 runs made him the second-highest run-scorer in the history of the league after former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli, who stands atop with 973 runs, which he scored in 2016. Both Buttler and Kohli have five centuries in their IPL career, only behind Chris Gayle who has six tons to his name.
