Former India opener Virender Sehwag advised the Indian youngsters, like Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw, to make an effort to approach senior players for advice. Though Gill has been in stunning form this Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Shaw has struggled a great deal before eventually he was dropped from Delhi Capitals’ (DC) matches. In the first six matches he played, all he could collect were a mere 47 runs.
Sehwag said how he was involved in an ad shoot with Shaw and Gill and none of them spoke to him about cricket. “He (Prithvi Shaw) did an ad shoot with me. Shubman Gill was also there. None of them talked about cricket for once. We were there for six hours. If you want to talk to someone then you have to approach them,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
Sehwag then recalled his own experience when was a new player and wanted to talk to Gavaskar back in 2003/04. He first approached the then-Indian head coach John Wright to make an arrangement so that he could get some batting advice from the 1983 World Cup champion.
“So Wright organized a dinner in 2003-04 for me and I also said that my (opening) partner Aakash Chopra will also come so that we can talk about batting,” Sehwag added.

Prithvi Shaw makes a decent comeback to DC XI against PBKS
During DC’s penultimate match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Thursday (May 18), Prithvi Shaw was included in the side and finally, he could play a decent knock this season. He racked up a half-century and got dismissed after a 38-ball 54 knock.
His innings, combined with Rilee Rossouw‘s 82* off 37, and David Warner’s 46 off 31 helped the team thrash PBKS by 15 runs. PBKS ended their hope to qualify for the playoffs, but they fought hard till the end. Liam Livingstone was to be given the credit as he took Punjab to 198/8 with his 48-ball 94 but couldn’t give them a memorable win.
