The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicago Street last Sunday was wild, featuring multiple wrecks and a seven-car pile-up. One of the major incidents of the day involved the reigning champion Joey Logano and Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain. A misunderstanding during a duel resulted in the Team Penske Racing’s drivers’ event being ruined.
In a late race restart, Joey Logano found himself driving behind Ross Chastain. Everyone in the pack was racing hard, playing bumper cars and in the chaos, the No:1 Chevy got spun around by Austin Cindric. Chastain didn’t know it was the No:2 Ford that took him out and thought it was the No:22 Ford of Logano.
In retaliation, Ross Chastain spun out the three times champions Ford alongside Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who was just an innocent bystander, ruining both of their races. Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. shared his thoughts on the dramatic incident in the latest episode of his podcast and called out the No:1 Chevy driver.
Ross Chastain I guess destroyed Logano and (Ricky) Stenhouse and now I bet Ross feels pretty crummy having seen a replay of how that all went down. F*cking hilarious. The 2 is Cindric. I love this guy, he’s a funny guy. But he totally stepped on his d*ck right there.

Talking about the incident, Junior joked that the Ross Chastain incident was like the Kyle Busch crash during wet track condition at Mexico City. He then hilariously explained how the Chevy driver came into the next turn, determined to wreck the veteran, humming the iconic “doh doh doh doh” meme background score associated with the reigning F1 champion Max Verstappen.
And we played the replay and the car, he’s hauling ass into Turn 1 and the rear tires are locked up. And it was just like Kyle Busch at the wet in Mexico but there wasn’t no excuse. That car’s going doh doh doh doh doh and he’s like, ‘Oh sh*t!’ And nobody in front has any idea what’s coming.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. branded the incident as most Ross Chastain thing ever
Further talking about the situation, Hall of Famer Dale Jr., shared how he felt, watching Joey Logano get wrecked by the Trackhouse Racing driver. He then highlighted how it has been pretty normal for Ross Chastain to wreck his rivals amidst aggressive duel and get out of the situation to secure a top-10 finish.

I saw the 22 wreck and I saw Ross wreck him, but it was just, I don’t know, man. I was sitting there watching this and then when it all got finished and we get another half a lap into the race, I’m like Ross is seventh. He came out of that completely fine. The most Chastain thing ever is for him…get bowled into the barrier, bounce off, wreck a couple guys, come out of Turn 2 still in the top 10.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. explained.
The beef between Chastain and Logano isn’t going to end anytime soon, as the duo have pretty close cars in terms of overall performance. The upcoming races at Watkins Glen and Sonoma Raceway will surly feature some back and forth between the two.
Joey Logano wanted NASCAR to step in and punish Ross Chastain for deliberately wrecking him, as they have previously fined the likes of Denny Hamlin for intentional wrecks. But since NASCAR has decided not to fine Chastain, the veteran Ford driver might decide to take situation on his own hands.
