- Abdul Carter criticized Jaxson Dart for supporting Donald Trump at a campaign event, sparking significant online backlash.
- Emmanuel Acho defended both players' rights to their political choices but suggested Dart should have avoided the event early in his NFL career.
- Carter faced criticism for publicly calling out Dart, which some viewed as an unnecessary distraction for their struggling team.
Abdul Carter calling out Jaxson Dart for joining Donald Trump at a campaign in New York City created ample commotion on the internet on Saturday. Temporarily, the New York Giants pass rusher became the target of a massive backlash from Trump’s supporters.
Former NFL linebacker turned football expert Emmanuel Acho emerged as the voice of reason amidst the chaos. Acho argued that both Dart and Carter are grown men and have every right to support whomever they want to.
That doesn’t imply that one is wrong, and the other is correct. This is not a conflict between black and white, but rather carefully choosing their every move.

Emmanuel Acho urges Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter to act like grown men
Dart and Carter are part of a major sports franchise, situated in a city infamous for its polarized media coverage. From Acho’s perspective, Dart should have avoided going to a political event at such an early stage of his NFL career.

Jaxson Dart, I don’t personally have an issue with him supporting Trump. He’s a human; he can support whom he wants to support. Was it pretty stupid, given the reaction it will cause to his other brothers, who are humans and have human emotions? Absolutely. I don’t think it was wise [to visit Trump’s campaign in New York City].

As for Carter, Acho argued that it was an “unintelligent” step from the second-year edge to publicly call out Dart, something he could have done in private.
Now you have caused a distraction, and your organization has won no games in a long time. But they are men, they can do whatever they want… It’s going to be something to watch, though.
Acho concluded
Jaxson Dart attends Donald Trump’s campaign in New York City
On May 23, President Trump visited New York City, a place he’s all too familiar with. To better connect with the people of the great city, Trump invited one of the most recognizable faces, the quarterback of the Giants, Jaxson Dart.
Big Blue nation, it’s a pleasure to be here… What an honor, what a privilege it is to be here and, without further ado, I’m grateful, I’m honored, I’m pleasured to introduce the 45th and 47th President of the United States of America, President Donald J. Trump.

Trump declared that Dart will be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day. The clips of Dart praising Trump flooded the internet. Carter saw the videos, and initially, it was a clip generated with the help of artificial intelligence.
Carter’s words invited a tsunami of hate tweets from supporters of Trump. Some urged Carter to take care of himself first before throwing dirt at others, by highlighting that he had been arrested twice while studying at Penn State: for the possession of marijuana and for minor assault.

A bunch of tweets noted Carter’s actions right after he was drafted third overall in 2025. He requested that the Giants unretire Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor’s number so he could wear it, but he didn’t get clearance. Team sources alleged that Carter slept through several team meetings.
"Sleepy" Abdul Carter's track record as a Giant:

– Asked for LT's number AS A ROOKIE
– Missed and slept through meetings all of his 1st NFL season
– Called out his teammate publicly for differing political opinions
Never seen any player with such little awareness.
Carter played every game during his rookie season. He accumulated 43 combined tackles, 7 TFLs, 4 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two forced returns.
