Ark 2 delayed to end of 2024, first game receiving next-gen port
The developers have explained that they are taking their time to improve the game.
Studio Wildcard has recently announced that their upcoming game, Ark 2, will face significant delays. The game won’t be released until the end of 2024. The studio explained that they had decided to use Unreal Engine 5 to create a much larger scope than originally planned.
This has resulted in the need to adjust the development process considerably. This means that there will be a significant change from the original plans for Ark 2. The sequel will include gameplay elements that may not appeal to the fans of the original game.
In response to this, Studio Wildcard has also announced that they will be releasing a next-gen version of the first game, Ark: Survival Evolved, in August 2023. The new version, titled Ark: Survival Ascended, will include all DLC maps, cross-platform multiplayer, and modding options. This release aims to offer fans of the original game new and exciting features, as well as the ability to progress through the game regardless of the platform they access it on.

What we know about Ark: Survival Evolved’s next-gen port
According to the studio, the new version of Ark: Survival Evolved will be sold in different versions. Microsoft and PlayStation users can purchase different versions of the critically-acclaimed survival game. Microsoft and Xbox users will be able to purchase the Ark Respawned Bundle for $49.99. The Ark Respawned Bundle will include both the original game and the sequel. Meanwhile, PlayStation users will be able to purchase Ark as a standalone game for $39.99.
The original game, Ark: Survival Evolved, was officially released in 2017 and received mixed reviews from critics. While many praised the game’s engaging setting, others criticized the punishing gameplay experience. However, the game still enjoyed high sales numbers even during its Early Access stage. Within a month of its release, Ark: Survival Evolved had sold over one million copies, and by August 2016, this number had grown to 5.5 million between the PC and Xbox One versions.
This unexpected success of the game led to the development of DLCs and the possibility of expanding on the storyline. This ultimately resulted in the announcement of Ark 2 in 2020 at The Game Awards. The game stars stars Vin Diesel and is being developed with Grove Street Games.
