Italy

Italy, one of the favourites to this edition of European Championships, have reached the knockouts stages without breaking much sweat. The Azzurris have maintained a perfect result in the group stages, winning all three of their games comfortably against Turkey, Switzerland and Wales and also conceded none in reply, becoming the first team in the history of the Euros to do so. However, they were pushed to their limits by a determined Austria in the round of 16, and had to struggle much to eke out a 2-1 win in the end, with Chiesa and Pessina scoring the all important goals in extra time, after the score remained 0-0 after normal time. Belgium would be the toughest of the lot the Italians have faced till now and definitely will not be easy for them.

Belgium qualify for the quarter finals
Belgium

Belgium, world’s top ranked team currently, were the only other team besides Italy to qualify for the knockouts by winning all group of their group games. The third placed team of 2018 World Cup, Belgium topped their group B with dominant displays against Russia Denmark and Finland. However, they encountered defending European Champions, Portugal in the round of 16, their toughest game yet in this edition of the Euros. Belgium somehow managed to come out unscathed against Portugal, who pushed them over the edge over the ninety minutes. Belgium were choked out in the second half and were hardly given any chance to dominate and play to their best, as Thorgan Hazard’ delightful strike made the only difference in the scoreline in their favour. Belgium will also be missing key players Eden Hazard and playmaker in chief Kevin De Bruyne to injury against the Italians, which would be a major blow for them.

Belgium Vs Italy Who Will Win Today’s Match

Italy have by far looked one of the better teams in the tournament, but they haven’t faced any formidable opponent yet, and were also made to toil by the Austrians. Belgium had a relatively tougher group and had to face Portugal in the pre Quarters, and have still managed to keep going in the Championships. Belgium will be coming with far more confidence and vigor following their win over the Defending Champions, but Italy will not be leaving it easy for the Belgians in this tough grind fixture. We are predicting a 2-1 win for Belgium, and the match may even go into extra time in search of the winner.

Final Prediction: Belgium 2-1 Italy
