Carlos Sainz reveals F1 drivers ‘manipulate’ their public image

Formula 1 is a massive sport with millions of fans tuning in every race weekend. This puts pressure on drivers to maintain a positive image, particularly for sponsors. Now, Carlos Sainz has made an interesting claim over curating one’s image.
Sainz emphasized that now drivers had immense control over how they want to be perceived by fans. The Spaniard mentioned that it wasn’t like Max Verstappen doesn’t indulge in such efforts. However, the Williams driver pointed out that Lando Norris had revealed more about himself compared to the reigning world champion.
As a driver, you can always play with how you are viewed from the outside. I’m not saying that Max [Verstappen] isn’t like that. Lando [Norris] has decided to reveal a bit more about himself.

Carlos Sainz did not state his position in this regard. Though, he asserted that a driver must be careful to manage their image. Sainz further highlighted that many drivers had become capable of manipulating the way they are perceived by the public.
I don’t know if I’m somewhere in between or more in one direction. But, as I said, one should be careful with such analyses. Drivers are quite capable of manipulating the public image in a certain way.

The 30-year-old will race for Williams this year after being ousted by Ferrari to make way for Lewis Hamilton. Charles Leclerc was disappointed to see his teammate move to a midfield team. The Monegasque driver mentioned that sometimes a driver needs to be at the right place at the right time. Leclerc declared that Carlos Sainz deserved to race for a top team again.
In Formula 1, some things you don’t really have explanations for. There’s also luck that is involved to be at the right place at the right time and Carlos definitely deserves to be in a top team.

Sainz will be looking to make a mark at Williams in the upcoming season. The Spaniard needs to show that he really did deserve a race-winning car. However, Carlos Sainz could face a challenging start if the Grove-based squad fails to deliver a car capable of fighting for points.
