Ex-Haas Team Principal, Guenther Steiner has urged Red Bull to be more open and inclusive to other drivers on the grid for a chance on the team. The Milton-Keynes-based outfit is rumored to have offered a 1-year contract extension to Sergio Perez, as the 34-year-old driver’s contract expires at the end of the season.

Guenther Steiner has been critical of Sergio Perez after the driver put out disappointing performances in the past three races, two of which he failed to qualify beyond Q2. Steiner is of the opinion that renewing Perez will cost the Red Bull, as the Mexican can prove to be a hindrance to them.

It’s one of those questions I ask myself sometimes, It’s like why don’t you give another guy a chance, you know? I mean Tsunoda is doing a fantastic job I think in the RB team, he’s doing a fantastic job there. Now it looks like Perez is renewed for next year, but you’ve got options out there like Sainz. Albon was out there but now obviously he’s not out there because he signed for Williams.
Guenther Steiner told the The Red Flags Podcast.

Yuki Tsunoda of Visa Cash App RB has been performing convincingly and has expressed his keenness to take the seat at Red Bull. Steiner also spoke about the availability of Carlos Sainz for the coming season, but only time will tell who gets to drive alongside Max Verstappen next season.

You[Ziggo Sport pundit Rob Kamphues] said that Max was going to win 22 races this year, so that’s not going to happen. He will win another six or seven.

Red Bull has been poles apart from their dominant best this season, with the team struggling to find pace at a few circuits. Max Verstappen won 19 races out of a possible 23 last season but has failed to win three races this year already, which highlights the dip in performance for the team.

McLaren and Ferrari are the top challengers to Red Bull for the drivers and constructors championship in light of their strong performances. Christian Horner and co. will look to bounce back to winning ways in the upcoming races of Canada and Spain in an attempt to strengthen their lead at the top of the standings.
