Lewis Hamilton is statistically the most successful driver in the history of Formula 1. The Briton has achieved unprecedented success in the sport with over 100 race victories, all with Mercedes power. However, this iconic partnership between Hamilton and the Silver Arrows will come to an end this season.
The seven-time world champion will move to Scuderia Ferrari in 2025 on a massive multi-year deal. Lewis Hamilton seems to have set his sights at bringing glory back to Maranello. However, the 39-year-old presently remains focused on his remaining tenure with Toto Wolff‘s Mercedes.
Hamilton and Wolff are perhaps the closest driver-boss pairing on the grid. The two have shared some memorable moments while enduring some tough times. It is thus no surprise that both parties would love to end this glorious chapter on a high, potentially by a historic eighth title win for Lewis Hamilton.
Lewis Hamilton rejuvenated after ending winless run in F1
Before Hamilton’s stellar victory at Silverstone this season, the Briton last won a race in 2021. The seven-time world champion had not won a race for over two and a half years. Many believe that this could’ve been the reason for his Ferrari move.
However, Lewis Hamilton has now won two races this year, second only to Max Verstappen. This has made Mercedes the only team apart from Red Bull to have won more than two races. Toto Wolff had described Hamilton’s British GP win as a fairytale. Although, the Austrian billionaire would certainly aim to continue this momentum after the summer break.
Mercedes now have a good car for the first time in the ground-effect era. Lewis Hamilton seems to be back to his prime and would undoubtedly push to the limit at every race. The Briton trails Verstappen by 127 points. However, Hamilton can certainly make gains considering Red Bull has started to fall behind Mercedes and McLaren.
There would be no better ending for Hamilton’s Mercedes journey than the highly-anticipated eighth title victory. This target might seem far for the time being. However, it is certainly not impossible. Fans would hope to see Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff share one final championship win before they part ways for good.
