Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes form the most successful pairing in Formula 1 history. The seven-time world champion has achieved historic success over the years. However, this partnership will come to an end after this season as Hamilton moves to Scuderia Ferrari in 2025.
Many believe that the Briton is leaving the Silver Arrows as the team had struggled to make gains in the ground-effect era. This led to Lewis Hamilton going winless for two consecutive seasons, a first in his long and successful F1 career. The 39-year-old remains hungry as ever for an unprecedented eighth world title and as such decided to place his bets on Ferrari.
Nevertheless, despite leaving the team at the end of this season, Lewis Hamilton would be eager to leave on a high note. The British driver has raced for Mercedes since 2013 and has been supported by the German carmaker since his karting days.
Lewis Hamilton still fully motivated for his final Mercedes season
Lewis Hamilton has shown promising performance this season. Mercedes finally made gains in terms of development. The Silver Arrows have not only got back to the front of the field but even had the fastest car on a few occasions this season.
Subsequently, the Brackley-based squad has won the most races this season after Red Bull. While Lewis Hamilton is the only driver apart from Max Verstappen to win more than one race so far this year. Although, George Russell’s disqualification in Belgium did hand Hamilton the victory, many claim that the 39-year-old deserved the win for his impressive drive.
Certainly, Lewis Hamilton has made it clear that he is pushing himself to the limit this year. The seven-time world champion has a special bond with Mercedes and he wishes for the team to succeed even without him.
With 10 races to go in 2024, Lewis Hamilton could find himself as a title contender against Max Verstappen. The Briton is the most consistent driver currently and barely makes any mistakes. As such, fans would be delighted to see Hamilton potentially fight for his eighth world title at the pinnacle of motorsport.
