Reigning world champion Max Verstappen has voiced his concerns regarding the hectic travel schedules of Formula 1 drivers. The racers are known to fly thousands of kilometers every year to compete in the ever-changing number of races across the calendar.
Max Verstappen currently leads the drivers’ championship by 52 points this season. He has amassed the most wins, despite being on a declining run since his last triumph at Barcelona in the Spanish Grand Prix.
Verstappen has advocated for races to be held in closer proximity toward the end of a grueling season. He claims that the long flying hours can have adverse effects on the drivers, both mentally and physically.
The Dutchman now faces a stern challenge against the powerful likes of McLaren (Lando Norris) and Ferrari in the championship. He must find a way to alleviate his issues and compete in a better manner to secure the world championship this year.
Max Verstappen refuses to play second fiddle in Formula 1
Max Verstappen has been vocal about his thoughts and preferences since his early days in Formula 1. He has been the main man for Red Bull ever since his debut and continues to perform at the very highest level.
Verstappen has since emphasized the need to uphold one’s honor when being preferred to someone in Formula 1. He has said that it’s better to leave the sport than to play as a second fiddle against one’s wishes.
Formula 1 is an incredibly demanding sport that requires the best performances from the best drivers. A racer could be shown the way out if he fails to perform at par with the role expected of him. Such instances have taken place this season as well, further justifying the cut-throat nature of the sport.
