The battle between Red Bull and McLaren for the 2024 constructors’ championship has further cut down to just eight points. Additionally, even Lando Norris has come extremely close to Max Verstappen for the drivers’ title lead. Hence, with just eight races remaining, Verstappen believed that the team required fortune to overcome Norris in the title fight.
Lando Norris finished P3 at the Italian GP, way ahead of Max Verstappen in P6. As a result, the point disparity between the two has further come down. Hence, the Dutchman reckoned that Norris’ P3 result helped the former with his lead in the championship. Verstappen claimed that it was helpful in a way, but it wasn’t how he saw the championship.
However, Max Verstappen noted that Red Bull needed to win the championship on their own fortunes. This meant that Milton Keynes needed a desperate revival in performance to enable any chances of championship glory. The Dutchman didn’t hesitate to accept that the entire Italian weekend had been extremely bad for the Austrian constructor.
We have to go from our own fortunes, and today and this whole weekend has been very bad.Max Verstappen via Formu1a.uno
Max Verstappen labeled the Italian GP as ‘pretty boring’
Max Verstappen suffered from multiple issues throughout the Italian GP. The 26-year-old was extremely agitated at the botched pit stop from Red Bull mid-way through the race. Hence, due to the problems, Verstappen labeled the race as ‘boring.’ Additionally, Verstappen claimed he couldn’t run in full power throughout the race.
It was pretty boring, We’re too slow. The pitstop, of course, cost me a bit. I couldn’t run full power for most of the race as well with the engine, because we had a little issue.Max Verstappen noted
Red Bull’s woeful performances will only strengthen McLaren’s chances of a championship victory further. Hence, the team must immediately work on their performance to fend off against the in-form rivals. The remainder of the season promises great excitement and competition despite the struggles of multiple outfits.
