“Announce a real race now”- Fans react as Miami GP organisers finally add real water to the marina following an ‘ embarrassing’ debut race
The 2023 Miami GP will finally have real water, 12 months after its inaugural race.
Miami GP Marina
The Miami GP is one of the most recent circuits to make its debut in the F1 calendar. The inaugural race took place in the 2022 F1 season wherein fans got to witness one of the most luxurious grand prix weekends. Tickets for the race were also sold pretty fast. Later on, the same tickets were being sold through unofficial retailers at a massive markup due to the high demand.
For the 2023 iteration of the Grand Prix, the organisers have finally decided to add actual water to it’s marina. This decision had taken place after the marina had become a joke last year. The organisers had added planks of wood around boats in the fake marina and then painted them blue. This was in an attempt to make people feel that they were in an actual marina.
However, that idea has now been scrapped due to the sheer embarrassment that it caused all weekend last year. Sky Sports host Craig Slater even went on to lie on the marina while filming and pretended to swim. Such digs were taken all weekend by multiple individuals due to the sheer absurdity of the concept. Fans were quick to react as soon as the decision to add real water was made public.

Max Verstappen was the winner of the inaugural Miami GP. After an intense battle with Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, the Dutchman was able to achieve this feat. It is interesting to see. One interesting thing to note is the fact that Red Bull is going to let the fans create its livery for the three US races in a first of its kind competition. It will be interesting to see which livery gets chosen.
