“Any partnership must fit with the Red Bull philosophy”: Christian Horner sceptical of deal with Porsche

Over the last few months, there have been much uproar about the possibility that Porsche will be making their comeback into Formula 1 with a new contract with Red Bull Racing. And if the reports are to be believed, then fans might see this deal take form by 2026. Now, there have been news regarding this that have revealed that Porsche has already acquired 50% of the shares of Red Bull Racing. But according to the racing team’s Chief Christian Horner, the Briton is still a bit sceptical of the entire arrangement as he is afraid the Milton-Keynnes-based team will lose their own “philosophy” amidst their dealings with Porsche.
In a recent interview just ahead of the commencement of the summer break for F1, Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner addressed his concerns over the potential contract between Red Bull and Porsche. In 2005, the British team made its debut in F1 and has always maintained its own integrity in the sport throughout all these years. Very little has changed about Red Bull over all these years, and entered Formula 1 as a team in 2005 and Horner has been at the helm of the team ever since the beginning.

Christian Horner discusses Red Bull-Porsche contract, fears that his team would lose its “DNA”
Being with Red Bull Racing ever since the team started out in Formula 1, Christian Horner harbors great pride for his team’s culture and wishes that it never changes, no matter who stays at the authoritative position in the team. Now that Porsche might be entering into the decision-making process for Red Bull as a majority shareholder, Horner fears that they would want Red Bull to conform to their standards, and this would make the team lose its integrity.
While speaking on the topic of a deal between Red Bull and Porsche, Christian Horner did not entirely dismiss the idea but he also said, “But any partnership would have to fit with the Red Bull philosophy, obviously, the DNA, the culture of who we are, how we go racing and what we’ve achieved.”
He continued, “It would be absolutely fundamental to any discussion of not changing that, you know. We’re successful for a reason.”
