Aston Martin is going through the best honeymoon period in its F1 history thanks to their 2023 recruit Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard is making headlines across the F1 community with his destructive pace during the Qualifyings as well as the Main Races in most of the race weekends. He has won 6 podiums for his new team in Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Miami, Monaco and Canada out of the eight Grands Prix held till date. But in comparison to that, his teammate Lance Stroll has had a rather disappointing run in 2023 so far.

Despite the fans losing confidence in the Canadian for failing to keep up with Alonso, Aston Martin Team Principal Mike Krack has insisted that Lance Stroll will soon enjoy a stronger form in the upcoming weeks. The scion to billionaire Lawrence Stroll‘s estates had previously said it took him until the Monaco Grand Prix last month to entirely feel at ease driving the AMR23 due to the wrist injuries he suffered in a bicycle accident only a week ahead of the Bahrain GP.

Unfortunately, even though Stroll Sr., the AMR owner, was hoping to have both cars finish on the podium for his home race, the unfavorable mixed-weather qualifying conditions saw Stroll get eliminated in Q2. He had to start 16th thanks to a limitation penalty, and ended his run in Montreal in the ninth place. As of now, it looks as if Lance has no real output to the team with 117 out of 154 points so far has been grabbed by Fernando Alonso himself. But Mike Krack said, “Now on paper it looks only ninth and your team-mate finishes second, and you think it’s not a good performance. But when you see where you come from, I think he was very good.”

Mike Krack, the head of the Aston Martin team, defended his driver’s performance in the race.He said, “He [Lance] struggled with grip and if you struggle like that, and you don’t have the confidence, then it is very difficult. [But] I think he drove really well. We took him out of traffic and when he was out of traffic, he managed the lap times of the frontrunners on the hard”.

Mike Krack insisted that Saturday qualification is very important as a driver and the struggle in Qualifying almost always continues at the Main Race too. Krack also commented that Lance is a very mature and strong driver, and the team hopes to put through some of their best performances with him in the upcoming races of this season as the high speed circuits are Lance Stroll’s strong point.
