The spectacle of an F1 Grand Prix attracts personalities and celebrities worldwide, and this weekend’s Canadian GP is no exception. With some big names have attended the last three races, Montreal has kept the theme going, with renowned culinary genius Gordon Ramsay in attendance.
The great chef was interviewed by F1 pundit Martin Brundle in the paddock ahead of the race. The Briton is an avid supporter of F1. He said, “So, nice to see Mercedes right up there and Aston Martin having a good season. It’s exciting.” He is delighted to see the Brackley-based Mercedes and British Aston Martin performing brilliantly in the last few races.
Ramsay also went on the wish Brundle a happy Father’s Day. The latter also affectionately referred to Ramsay as “the swearing chef”, a reputation he has built for his passionate outburst on TV. He was notably spotted with the likes of his compatriot Lewis Hamilton and engaging in discussions with the Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff.
He is undoubtedly rooting for the likes of those representing his nation and is present to watch the proceedings unfold at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in the company of his wife in Montreal.
Gordon Ramsay gave Lewis Hamilton his best before the race
The celebrity chef is no stranger to being in attendance at F1 races. The Canadian GP is no exception, where he wished his compatriot Lewis Hamilton the best ahead of his long race in Montreal. In a post-qualifying interview following the Canadian GP, Hamilton openly acknowledged that he does not intend to battle the championship leader, Max Verstappen.
Anticipating Max Verstappen’s rapid acceleration at the start of the race, the 25-year-old expects to establish a significant lead of over 20 seconds against the trailing drivers. Consequently, Hamilton’s objective is to create as many obstacles as possible for Fernando Alonso, challenging his experience on the track. Speaking to The Mirror, Hamilton stated his intent to make life difficult for the 41-year-old.
Hamilton said, “We are ahead of the Ferraris. Max will be gone most likely, but if I can hold onto Alonso and give him hell, that’s what I’ll do.” The cautionary message delivered by Hamilton to his former teammate resembles the statements made by the latter following the Spanish GP. Fernando Alonso, who did not secure a top-three finish in Barcelona, vowed to “crush” Hamilton and the rest of the competitors in Canada.
The Briton will aspire to close the 12-point gap between himself and his long-time rival, along with reaffirming Mercedes’ lead over Aston Martin in the Constructors’ standings. How their battle will unfold is yet to be seen, but it will certainly be an exciting clash between two F1 greats.
