Red Bull Racing has dominated the 2023 season. The Austrian team made history this year, with Max Verstappen taking the sport’s longest winning streak. However, the Milton Keynes-based team struggled at the Singapore GP on a disastrous weekend. Now, Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has shed light on the team’s biggest challenge for the rest of the season.

In the remainder of the 2023 season, three of the six rounds are Sprint weekends. Qatar, USA (COTA), and Brazil will host F1 Sprint weekends this year. Horner believes that these weekends remain an unknown for Milton Keynes, having struggled at Interlagos last season. The Briton said, as reported by Racingnews365, “Honestly, I don’t know. It’s impossible to predict. Obviously, Brazil was a struggle for us last year.”

The Red Bull team boss admitted that having a single practice session makes it difficult for teams to find the right set-up for the weekend. If a team fails to get the car in the right window, it will face a challenging weekend and struggle to get results. As such, the three Sprint weekends might be tough for Milton Keynes if it does not get its act together on Friday.

Christian Horner concluded, “You get one session to sort your car out and that can put huge pressure. If you don’t get quite in the right window after that P1, if you have a bit of rain or compromised session, that can make it very tricky.”

Red Bull remain unmatched in 2023

Despite facing a setback at the Singapore GP, where Red Bull struggled massively. The Austrian team has remained the dominant force this season. Milton Keynes bounced back straightaway at the next weekend in Japan with Verstappen’s incredible victory. The 25-year-old’s win allowed the team to take the 2023 Constructors’ championship.

However, rivals have been working on updates to bridge the gap with Red Bull. Ferrari became the first non-Red Bull team to emerge victorious this year courtesy of Carlos Sainz‘s stunning drive at Marina Bay. Yet, there is a long way to go before a team can truly challenge Milton Keynes. However, rivals such as McLaren and Mercedes are making rapid progress as well.

Nevertheless, Red Bull remain the favorites for the 2023 season. The Austrian team has lost only a single race so far this year. As such, Milton Keynes would be looking to have a clean sweep of the final six races of the year. However, it remains to be seen if the 2023 champions can end the season on a high note.
