After months of speculations and hundreds of theories from the fans, it has now officially been confirmed that Daniel Ricciardo will have to part ways with McLaren at the end of the current Formula 1 2022 season. The Australian racer had previously mentioned that the F1 followers who were saying that his time at the British team has come to an end, were wrong.

Proving Daniel Ricciardo’s comments false, McLaren released their statement today. The Woking-based outfit will be severing ties with the Honey Badger by means of a premature contract termination. This means, by the end of this year, the eight-time Grand Prix winning racer will be left without a seat at any of the F1 teams if he does not act fast and secure a deal in the next few weeks’ time.

Commenting on Daniel Ricciardo’s dismissal from McLaren, their team principal Andreas Seidl said, “We have to acknowledge we didn’t make it work it work together, despite all the commitment from Daniel’s side and the team’s side, despite all the effort we all have put in. That’s why we came to the decision that we wanted to make a change for next year...”

As of now, the word going around in the F1 community is that McLaren is eyeing a contract with F2 Champion Oscar Piastri for the next season for the seat beside Lando Norris. Although no official announcement has been made yet, it is expected that the confirmation will come anyday now. As for the future of Daniel Ricciardo‘s career in Formula 1, the Australian has a high chance to leaving the sport and pursuing some other motorsport league such as Formula E, IndyCar, etc.

On the other hand, there is also news that Haas F1 Racing team has contacted Daniel for a potential deal. The American team has got Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher as the chief drivers, but Schumacher’s contract for next year has not been confirmed yet. Now, it remains to be seen if the rumors about Daniel Ricciardo moving to Haas materialise into a reality, or if Schumacher is able to retain his seat in Guenther Steiner’s team. And then again, Alpine is also yet to announce their line-up for next year–thus, it seems Daniel Ricciardo still has a couple of options left on his hand for 2023.
