The announcement of Lewis Hamilton leaving Mercedes to join Ferrari had shaken the F1 world with its biggest driver transfer ever. Since then, Fernando Alonso has been rumored to join the Brackley-based squad. Now, the rumors of the Spaniard joining the team have been at an all-time high after a photo was posted by Flavio Briatore on Instagram.
The two-time champion’s name has been listed as one of the bigger candidates to replace an outgoing seven-time champion in the Silver Arrows. The 42-year-old had recently come out and said that he is devoted to Aston Martin. However, this doesn’t seem like the case anymore as his manager Briatore had posted an image of him being with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff.
This is crucial as Alonso is at the top of his game currently and many believe that only a world champion like the Spaniard can replace the Briton. Fans across the world have seen the post and are convinced that negotiations are going on between the Mercedes camp led by the Austrian and the Aston Martin driver.
What does Fernando Alonso feel about Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari?
The shock departure of the Englishman to Maranello has taken the F1 world aback. Meanwhile, his former teammate at McLaren does not feel that it is a big move made by the Briton.

The 39-year-old had said that joining the Scuderia was a childhood dream completed. However, The Briton’s former teammate rejected his claims and said that this move was influenced by the recent circumstances.
Now Wolff is faced with the challenge of finding a suitable driver for the team after Hamilton’s departure. The Spaniard would be keen on making the most of his situation and land up in a top 3 team. Meanwhile, the saga of driver transfers and conspiracy theories continues to expand.
