F1 Australian GP: “Doing his best Latifi impression” – Fans react as Alex Albon bins it into the wall while running P6
Alex Albon lost out on a potential top 10 finish as he crashed into the barriers at Turn 7.
Alex Albon
Alex Albon looked set to score some decent points at the Australian GP. The Williams driver had qualified in the top 10 and capitalized on the first lap to go up to P6. However, on Lap 7, calamity struck, as Albon crashed into Turn 7. The Williams lost control due to an oversteer and its rear hit the barriers. This brought an end to the race of Alex and called out the safety car.
The crash was severe, with race control bringing out the Red Flag and stopping the race soon after. Alex Albon had managed to retain his position during the race successfully from the much faster Aston Martin of Lance Stroll behind him. Unfortunately, Williams will have to wait for longer to get its first points haul of the 2023 F1 season.
The Thai driver loves the Albert Park Circuit as Albon finished tenth place at the race last season. The Williams driver had the perfect opportunity to score a few points this time around as well. However, this was not to be the case. Alex Albon‘s crash is considered as driver error. Certainly, Albon would not be happy to leave Melbourne without any points.

“Gutted” – Fans unhappy with Alex Albon’s crash during the Australian GP
Fans on Twitter were disappointed with this incident. One user mentioned how they felt as the Thai driver had to retire after driving so well in the race till that point. The user wrote, “Gutted.” Another fan stated how Alex Albon’s crash led to an end of an incredible weekend. The fan was relieved to see that the Williams driver was okay. The fan replied, “Shame, he was having a spectacular weekend. Big risk also with the car bouncing back on track, luckily nothing else happened.”
On the other hand, one user called out Alex Albon for imitating his former teammate, Nicholas Latifi. Latifi was infamous for such crashes during his time in F1. The user commented, “Doing his best Latifi impression, honestly he nailed it.” One fan took a rather less forgiving approach to this incident. They suggested Albon switch careers and leave racing altogether. The user said, “Alex should rest go for modeling.”
Thus, Alex Albon’s impressive weekend at Albert Park has come to an abrupt end. The Williams driver has delivered some great laps over the course of the GP. However, it seems this was not meant to be, as the Thai driver could not control his car at high speed. Although, there is not much left for Albon to move on and focus on the future races.
