Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso has been a part of the F1 family for a long period of time, and winning two World Championships, working with teams like Renault and Ferrari has surely earned him a lot of experience and victories. His battle with Sebastian Vettel (in Red Bull) is something that is still talked about; the intimate battle for points and the cutting-throat between both the drivers is a legacy that will continue to live. Alonso made his comeback in the 2021 season (last year) with the Alpine team. Now even though the team is a mid-field team, the Spaniard still carries in himself the spirit of a champion.

His teammate, Esteban Ocon, too stated that he is here to stay and is still looking to win a 3rd World Championship. But at the same time, the 40-year old seems to be disappointed from the sport after all the drama that has taken place this year. The only teams that are topping each other are Scuderia and the Bulls, and other teams do not stand a chance to win a single race or even stand on the podium. This is because of the dominance that the Italy and UK based teams have shown until now.

The two-time world champion says that while the new F1 vehicles make it simpler to compete and that the races have become more entertaining, he still finds the sport ‘very boring’ and emphasizes that there will always be teams that are faster than the competition.

“Formula 1 is still very predictable. Everything revolves around the Bulls and Scuderia. Only Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and Sergio Pérez can win,” GPBlog quoted him; “There is a real opportunity here now that all teams have to work with the same maximum budget. It is up to me and Alpine to make it happen,” he concluded.

Those who know Alonso a little bit know that the legendary figure in motorsport will not be sitting on his hands as his ambition for the top step of the podium has not abated.
