“Allergic to fish” or “just hates fish”: F1 fans ask Lando Norris to stick to racing after a day in one of the Hilton Kitchens
Lando Norris is loved by a passionate fanbase
Lando Norris is one of the most promising young talents on the Formula 1 grid. The 22-year-old has delivered impressive results for McLaren ever since his first F1 season in 2019. Norris even surprised the critics as he beat the much more experienced Daniel Ricciardo in the last two seasons as his teammate, forcing the Australian driver out of McLaren at the end of this year. Looking forward, the British driver will be leading the Woking-based team for the long term.
Apart from astonishing the experts, Lando has gained a dedicated fan following in the recent years, through his famous Twitch streams and his friendship with ex-teammate Carlos Sainz. Norris also runs Quadrant, his own eSports team. Thus Norris is always a mainstay among the fans who admire him for his personality on and off the track. McLaren does not fail to capitalize on this loyal fanbase, by taking the young Brit on different PR activities and promotions, such as the collaberation with James Corden at the Miami Grand Prix.
One such promotional event happened this week, where Norris went to work in a kitchen of one of the Hilton hotels with a Michelin-star chef. And there, the McLaren driver was tasked with making an eggs benedict for supper. The whole process of cooking, however, turned out to be hilarious as Lando struggled to prepare the dish and the chef was not happy with the finished product.
“Oh no.. this dish is bwoken” – Fans love Lando Norris’s amusing effort
After McLaren posted the video of this incident on Twitter, fans loved it instantly. In the video we see the chef asking Lando if he’d taste what Lando has cooked himself, but the Brit declines by citing his fish allergy. Most were skeptical about Lando’s fish allergy as they speculated it as more of an excuse to avoid tasting a poorly made dish. One user commenting. “‘Allergic to fish’ or ‘just hates fish’” while another said, “he’s a liar, too bad Lando.” One fan tweeted, “Oh no.. this dish is bwoken,” referring to his famous team radio.
Some also pointed out the absence of Daniel Ricciardo with one user replying, “Ricciardo gonna see this video and chase Lando around the paddock in Mexico hitting him with a giant fish.” On a more controversial side, few fans referred to Red Bull’s breach of the cost cap due to the “catering overspend” and said, “This is the sort of stuff that’ll make a team exceed budget cap.” It is evident that fans were hysterical over Lando’s take at cooking but it would be best for Lando and the food that he sticks to racing instead of looking for a career in culinary arts.
