Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Ferrari in 2025 is the biggest Formula 1 news in a very long time. It came as a shocker for the entire F1 paddock, including fans who have since speculated the reasons behind this shocking move. However, the exact details of this switch haven’t been revealed to the public yet.
Mercedes has been suffering from a performance slump ever since the regulation changes in 2022. The team emerged victorious on only one occasion in 2022. Lewis Hamilton hasn’t been able to score his 104th victory in Mercedes ever since then. Hence, a shift in teams wasn’t the most unexpected move for the former seven-time world champion.
Additionally, Loic Serra’s move to Ferrari in 2025, aligned with Hamilton’s idea of exiting the team amidst the performance slump. Multiple top roles leaving the team isn’t ideal for the once-championship-winning team. Hence, Mercedes needs to desperately work on their form for 2024 and start winning races to retain good people in their team.
Fans sided with Lewis Hamilton over the unexpected move
In a recent tweet on X, multiple fans raised questions over the move, while others blamed the team for pushing Hamilton’s buttons to get this move out of him. One fan explained that the biggest reason for the switch was the way the Briton was ‘treated’ within the team. Another fan questioned the authorities over the odd timing of the move and the reason behind the 39-year-old informing Toto Wolff just a day prior.
Other fans recalled Hamilton’s previous comments of him wanting to drive for Mercedes despite not being the ‘ambassador’ for the team, hence something must be really wrong behind the scenes. Another fan added that James Allison didn’t respect the Briton’s updates and insights about the car built by the team and hence caused this move from the driver.
what’s going on at Brackley and why did Lewis Hamilton only told Toto Wolff about this Ferrari move yesterday ??????????????

Lewis has even said he wants to remain with Mercedes after he stops driving in an ambassador role. Something must be really wrong behind the scenes.

I would suspect this year’s car is not looking promising and that is the last straw and options are being made but things could change if car performs better than expected

I have a feeling they listened to nothing he said last year

IMO the way James Allison shrugged off the cockpit question on the W14 says a lot that he doesn't support Lewis. That team is all George now and will never win another title.

Announcing it before the start of 2024 season is strange. It will demoralise his team as well as Carlos at Ferrari.

He saw in simulator that the car was not good enough to challenge for the title

I’m guessing Ferrari will be the team Hamilton’s retires with, it’s likely a team he also wants on his CV.

Regardless of the exact details of the move, seeing Hamilton drive for a different outfit after almost ten years would be very exciting for the fans. Ferrari might be the team that could enable contention for a championship for the former world champion and facilitate him to return back to his winning ways in Formula 1.
