Mercedes are commonly known as the Silver arrows in Formula 1. Over the years, the team has always gone with a silver livery to compete with other teams over the course of the season. The silver colour has become quite iconic for the German team as they have achieved an immense amount of success with it. They have won multiple championships in the pinnacle of Motorsports.

Today was a special day for the Brackley based team as they went on to reveal their F1 car for the 2023 season. Team drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were present at the event in order to talk about the car and later take it out for a spin. It was reported that the 2023 car would have it shake down moments after the car has been launched. This would be similar to what Ferrari did.

Along with the two main Mercedes drivers, team, principal, Toto, Wolf and reserve driver, Mick Schumacher were also present at the event. The team had previously used an all black livery during the 2020 F1 season in the response to the Black lives matter movement. They discontinued it for the 2022 season. However, it seems like the Black arrows have made a comeback.

During the event, it was explained that the main reason behind the team going back to Black was the weight of the car. most of the cars in 2023 are having a lot of exposed carbon on their body, which is used to reduce their weight. Mercedes has gone on to apply the same philosophy on the car. With Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, competing for the team in 2023, It will be interesting to see how they fare.
