Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa were teammates from 2010-2013, with Alonso emerging as the dominant of the two drivers throughout their four-year tenure as partners. Massa finished behind Alonso in the standings for all four years, which meant he was burdened with helping Alonso during races as second driver for Ferrari.

Alonso drove extremely well in 2010 and 2012, losing out in both championships to Sebastian Vettel by only a couple of points. Meanwhile, Felipe Massa was made to sacrifice his races to help Alonso in his bid for the championships. Massa accused Alonso of manipulating Ferrari with his influence on the team, which was also detrimental to Massa himself. Massa said that the predicament put his mental state in a difficult place.

I think the only problem was splitting the team in half, and that wasn't good for the team. To beat him you have to be in the day. I have been like that in many races, but something happened that put me in difficulty mentally, causing me to make mistakes.
Felipe Massa said, as reported by formulapassion.it

Alonso has had a lot of trouble with teammates in the past, with Lewis Hamilton, Esteban Ocon, and Felipe Massa all developing rocky relationships with Alonso during their time as his partner. Hamilton and Alonso, however, now share mutual respect, praising each other for their longevity in the sport and hard-working spirit.

F1 commentator says loss to Fernando Alonso is due to Sergio Perez inability to attack

Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso had a last-lap showdown in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, separated by only 0.053 seconds as they crossed the line in third and fourth. Alonso emerged victorious from the fight, achieving a podium amid troubles for Aston Martin, despite Perez being in the faster RB19.

Former Williams sponsorship manager Pete Windsor had some criticism for Sergio Perez for his Sao Paulo performance. The British commentator said Perez does have good driving skills in most standards as a racing driver but does not have the attacking skills needed to match the best drivers on the grid, such as Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and Charles Leclerc.

He is what he is as a racing driver, obviously very good by most standards, but if you’re talking about comparing him with other excellent drivers on the grid – Max as a good example – he’s never been very good in attack.
Pete Windsor said, as reported by planetf1.com

Perez’s Sao Paulo result takes some pressure off his shoulders despite losing to Fernando Alonso, as he fended off rumors of being replaced by Red Bull for 2024. The Mexican increased the points gap between himself and Hamilton to 32 points and could secure second place in the championship in the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Alonso also got a good result in the fight against Lando Norris for P4 in the Drivers’ Championship, standing on the podium another time after a terrible second half of the season for Aston Martin despite a strong start. The Spaniard will be aiming for similar results in the last two rounds of Formula 1 in November.
