At Monza, Alonso’s determination to secure Aston Martin ahead of Ferrari in the Constructors’ Championship faced a significant setback. This unfolded as it became evident that the Aston Martin AMR23 was ill-suited for the low-downforce track at  Monza. Consequently, the Spanish driver could only gain two points, highlighting the challenging nature of the circuit for his car’s performance.

During the Monza weekend, Alonso expressed the team’s primary focus is on the Constructors’ Championship. He acknowledged the importance of scoring points and aiming to prevent Ferrari from overtaking them in the championship standings. Alonso also acknowledged that Ferrari is improving their performance and there is a need to maintain a competitive edge in the Constructors’ Championship.

Our aim is more in the Constructors’ Championship to score points with both cars and hopefully keep Ferrari behind because they are getting stronger and stronger.” Said Alonso  Ferrari achieved its most impressive outcome of the season with a third and fourth-place finish, earning 27 points. This successful performance by both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc placed Ferrari higher in the championship standings, enabling them to surpass Aston Martin by a margin of 11 points.
