The Miami Grand Prix has come to an end with immense disappointment for Saturday’s pole-sitter Sergio Perez. Everything was going well for the Mexican until the last moment when he was overtaken by his rival and teammate Max Verstappen, who started way back from the 9th position on the grid. Should Perez have won the race in Florida, he would have scored 25 points, bridging the gap between him and Max, and this would have taken him to the top of the Championship standings for the first time in his F1 career.
Throughout the weekend’s practice session, Sergio Perez seemed to lack some speed ahead of the Miami GP. Then, he took all of his fans as well as his critics by surprise by scoring a resounding pole victory during the Qualifying Round. Walking into the Miami GP, things seemed to be working out in favor of Checo as he was going to start from the front row and his rival Max Verstappen was in the 9th spot. But in the course of the race, the two-time World Champion delivered a thunderous performance on his hard tires as he took over Perez.
But Max Verstappen’s astounding charge at the Miami GP has raised some eyebrows on Twitter. The way he surpassed Checo, it was clear that the two teammates were not driving the same racecars. In fact, it was also pointed out by one of the SkySports commentators towards the end of the race that Red Bull had provided no radio communication to Sergio Perez while they gave all the important information to Max Verstappen as the Dutchman was gearing up to outperform Checo. This has fired some conspiracy theories on Twitter as many fans have come to believe that Red Bull tried to sabotage Perez’s race to make sure their golden boy Max Verstappen wins.

The Miami GP weekend was full of hope for Sergio Perez as he stood the chance to lead the World Championship by the end of it. Unfortunately, that did not come to be true, and he is still in the second place behind teammate Max Verstappen. And fans believe a big chunk of Sergio’s sorrows come from Red Bull‘s clear-as-day favouritism as they believe the Milton-Keynes-based outfit ignored Checo throughout the race and gave all the important to Max Verstappen to make sure he wins the race.
Here is what the fans have said about Red Bull playing dirty on behalf of ‘golden boy’ Max Verstappen to make sure Sergio Perez never won the Miami GP–
In other news, Max Verstappen has solidified his first position on the points table with his Miami GP victory. Yesterday, he could not put in a lap time during Q3 due to Charles Leclerc’s crash, and thus he had to start from P9 at the Main Race. But the two-time World Champion became the first racer to win a Grand Prix from the 9th position on the grid ever since Niki Lauda had achieved the same feat at the 1984 French GP held in Dijon. Now it remains to be seen if Max continues to pull off such wonders in the remaining races of this year to get his Championship hattrick at the end of 2023.
