“I didn’t change anything ,” Fernando Alonso reflects on getting his best ever qualifying position in the US since 2007

Aston Martin F1 driver Fernando Alonso has been one of the few surprises this year. After leaving Alpine for the second time when is F1 career, everyone thought that the move would result in a disaster. However, it seems like Nando has found this rhythm and has been on a charge ever since the start of the weekend. His results have been pretty astonishing.
The 2023 F1 Miami GP qualifying was somewhat of a question mark when it came to the events that took place. Whilst Sergio Perez put his Red Bull on pole, P2 and P3 were not the drivers that everyone was expecting. With Carlos Sainz finishing P3, Fernando Alonso went on to shock the paddock yet again with his P2 finish . This puts him at the front row alongside Perez.
While a lot of drama took place at the track, Fernando Alonso got to take full advantage. After finishing the first three races on the podium, his charge continued as he finished P4 at Baku. Following those results, a P2 qualifying results speaks numbers about his abilities. The Spaniard himself had a lot to discuss post qualifying.

Fernando Alonso is ‘extremely happy’ with P2
“It was a good qualifying. FP3 was messy for us because we tried a few set up things, but the team put the car in a more known place and the car came alive. I am extremely happy with P2. I enjoyed the laps,” he said. “ I didn’t have the team believing in my performance and my ability to set up the car and move forward. I also never had a fast car as I had now. I didn’t change anything Aston Martin changed for me,” he continued.
The 2023 Miami GP qualifying session was a frenzy itself. With Haas’s Kevin Magnussen finishing the session in P4, hopes have risen for the American fan’s supporting their home heroes. Nevertheless Fernando Alonso’s magic continues as his impressive display of form is ongoing in this season. It will be interesting to see where he finishes during the actual Grand Prix taking place on Sunday.
