After a gut wrenching 2021 season, Max Verstappen emerged victorious at Abu Dhabi as he finally clinched his maiden world championship whilst fighting against Lewis Hamilton. Having finally gotten a car that is able to compete for the world championship, the Dutchman made optimal use of his resources and emerged victorious against the greatest driver of all time when it comes to statistics.

Ever since the final race happened in 2021, Max Verstappen became a worldwide celebrity having beaten all odds and winning the championship for Red Bull. The driver did say that this was the dream that he and his father Jos had. Now that their ultimate goal has been achieved, something else was in the Red Bull driver’s mind as he took on the 2022 season.

A horrible start to the season did bring morale down. However, the Dutch driver went on to work hard with Red Bull to strike back and they did that in style. As we approach the final race of the season, Max Verstappen has gone on to win 14 races and will even hungrier for victory as he will be chasing is 15th win at Yas Marina. Here is what he had to say as he looked back at the past two years.

The Red Bull driver talked with GQ magzine where he went on to state that he has achieved his goals. Here is what Max had to say. “I have achieved everything I wanted in Formula 1,” he said. “But now I want to try and do it again and again and again, as long as you can, because you never know how long your car is going to be competitive for, or how long you’re going to be around for,” he continued.

Max Verstappen’s early success has made him an icon amongst upcoming racers and has put him in a unique position. The two time world champion stated that it is important to have faith in yourself. Verstappen in not one that goes for glory and glamour. He went on to speak about his early days during the interview.

“I never really had someone that I looked up to. Like, ‘I really want to be like this guy’ or whatever. I just wanted to be myself. That works the best. If you start copying people, you can only be as good as them. You cannot be better,” he concluded.

Max Verstappen had been deemed as the talent of the century by Nikki Lauda back in 2016 after the Dutch driver won his inaugural race for Red Bull’s main team. He clearly saw something in young Max and it can be seem by everyone now. Verstappen’s performances have been excellent this season. Who knows what’s in store for the Red Bull pilot for next season where Ferrari and Mercedes could catch up.
