At every single point in his life ever since he signed his career-defining contract with the Scuderia Ferrari, Charles Leclerc has not let up a single opportunity to express his gratitude for being a part of the oldest and the most successful teams in the history of F1. The Monegasque has time and again talked about how he believes it is the biggest chance in his F1 career that he got to drive for Ferrari after he made the switch from Sauber to the Scuderia in 2019.

And to add on top of that, Charles Leclerc is now Ferrari’s brightest Championship hope as the racer has displayed exceptional racing skills when he is behind the wheels of his racecars. Even though the 24-year-old could not maintain the traction that he had during the initial races of this year, he has still made a huge advancement in 2022 and believes that he will be able to win the Championship with a bit more practice and with some flawless driving in the next few years. But even now, Leclerc is not giving up on his campaign this year as nine races are still left.

In a recent interview with the GQ magazine, Charles Leclerc shared the fact that he had always dreamt of driving for Ferrari ever since a family friend let him into the Ferrari factory during his teenage years. And now that he is one of the drivers who race for the Scuderia, he feels blessed with the way his F1 career trajectory has gone till now.

Charles Leclerc shares the story of his childhood fascination with Scuderia Ferrari

For young Charles Leclerc, getting to visit the Scuderia Ferrari factory in Maranello was nothing short of a dream come true as he had always wondered about the team’s huge success rate in F1. When he finally got the opportunity, he lapped it up. He said, “I sat in the car park for two hours. Trying to guess what it was like inside. I imagined Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, y’know? With Oompa Loompas running around.”

While Charles Leclerc described his first interaction with the Scuderia factory in such details, Carlos Sainz revealed that his first memories inside the place was a lot different than his teammate’s. The Spaniard had first visited Ferrari’s factory while he was still a recruit under McLaren, and once he was there, he got stupefied with what he saw. And then, in 2021, he finally signed a deal to join the Scuderia.
